Just returned from my holiday to discover a rather alarming automated message on my voicemail. I decided to get rid of it, as we're convinced it’s nothing but a scam. The caller identified themselves as Jennifer Coleman from HMRC, and the number was 1905570663! Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

My home phone picks up on the answerphone after 4 rings but they never leave a message. Used 1471 to get the number. Called it back on my mobile and some dodgy bloke with a thick Pakistani accent answered, barely spoke any English. Claimed to be from the Inland Revenue. I just hung up. Got a call today at 11.26. It was one of those automated messages supposedly for me, telling me to have my lawyer call them about a serious lawsuit. I actually listened all the way through, just for a laugh. Total nonsense, nothing to do with HMRC - they wouldn’t call and definitely wouldn’t finish with “wishing you a blessed day.” If you want, you can check the recording, block the number and move on. Might be worth asking your local MP what they’re doing about these scam calls pretending to be from UK numbers.

Warned my friends and family so they dont get caught out too (number's now blocked). What really bugs me is how these people got my number after GDPR has been around since May 2018. Called by a robo voice from 01905570663 saying it was Dennis Grey at HMRC, said I needed to respond right away or my solicitor had to call back or I’d get "legal action" - just like other folks mentioned here. I rang HMRC myself to be sure, and they advised me to report it at www.actionfraud.police.uk, which I have now done and also warned some mates.

Just like others mentioned here, I got a call a few months back from a different number but with the same American-style voicemail. I called it back using a landline, not my mobile, and a bloke answered asking for my number. When I told him he was the one who called me and refused to give mine, he ended the call. Today, the above number rang me with that identical voicemail. I actually work for the council, so my taxes are all sorted. No idea what they’re trying to pull here. I’ve blocked this number just like the previous one and reckon everyone else should do the same.

I got a call today from someone claiming to be from HMRC about some fraud with my taxes spanning the past five years. The caller said his name was Eric Foster and gave an employee number, 058890. But as soon as I told him that if he was the real deal he’d know the answer to his own question, the line just went dead. Pretty suspicious if you ask me!

Just got that exact same voicemail today, definitely feels like one of those scams to me. Same as what everyone else has mentioned here.

I got a call about some taxes I supposedly hadn't paid, but it was definitely a scam.
