I had a rather dubious experience with someone peddling lottery tickets, claiming I could "win big" with an offer of five complimentary lines! It was frankly quite the aggressive pitch. Their main aim seemed to be enrolling me in a subscription for tickets, and they wouldn't take no for an answer regarding my bank information. After several attempts to pry my details from me, I decided enough was enough and ended the call. Remember folks, never hand out your banking information to unknown callers!

some bloke named robin rang me up, real chatty fellow, knew my name and even where i used to live. he rambled on about some free lottery tickets, this secret offer not even in the papers yet, and bargain prices on tickets for three months or something. then he started going on about how safe it was to use your debit card. that’s when i told him no chance and ended the call. he’s clearly been coached well on sounding friendly, but if you’re clued up about these scams, you won’t get taken in. i’m sure some folks still fall for it though.

This bloke said he was Michael James, claiming he was with the UK lottery. He went on a long spiel about hooking me up with free lottery lines starting in April. Then he began asking for my date of birth and bank info. I told him I didn't have that stuff handy, and he said he'd wait while I looked for it. I just ended the call instead. He rang back a couple of times after that, but I’ve blocked the number now.

So apparently lotto is offering 10 free lucky dips 'cause their sales have been tanking these past couple of years. They asked for my age, not my full birthdate, which kinda made me suspicious it might be a scam. They say tickets should show up in the post within 3 to 5 days. Not sure what to make of it yet.
