Got a call from what seemed like a business survey. The person was quite polite and behaved professionally. They stuck to all the rules of social research, and I ended up participating in the survey. It seems that my elderly mother-in-law received what was purportedly a customer feedback call from her local council in Essex. I told her there’s no business registered at this address and she wanted to confirm our phone number. A woman rang me from this number and sounded really professional. She said she was calling because I’d completed a survey for my energy provider, SSE. She admitted she worked for another company but does market research for various firms. She mentioned a bloke would visit to follow up on my answers. She gave me his name and said he’d carry ID. Got a call today at 9:30 am from 01904 732249, turns out it’s Q A Research Ltd, based in York. From what I saw on their site, they’ve been doing market research for 25 years and seem legit. They asked me to join a survey about local arts and entertainment venues. The whole thing took around ten minutes, was very professional and the woman on the phone was really polite. They only asked for my age, nothing too personal, and didn’t try to sell me any rubbish at all.
