She called me claiming to know I’d just bought a new appliance and was pushing an extended warranty with monthly instalments. When I said I’d rather use my credit card, she oddly asked for my sort code instead. Once she caught on to her slip-up, she tried to get me to pay the entire amount upfront. That’s when I decided to hang up.

So I got a call about renewing my washing machine warranty, right? Only problem is, I’m renting a flat with all white goods included - I don’t even have a washing machine! Told them that and they just ended the call straight away. Weird!
