I got a call from someone claiming to be the insurance for the person I was in an accident with back in January. They asked if I had any passengers, then just said they were wrapping things up and hung up before I could ask any questions. Very strange.

Got a call sayin' there’s 6 new Windows gadgets added to my network, ended up on my work phone. Feels real sketchy, could be a scam for sure.

Steve, classic Indian name that! He claimed he was from Microsoft and said there were six devices linked to my computer the night before. He told me to run a "net stat" command, which I did, and it only showed one device, which was right. After that, he seemed a bit annoyed. He asked me to check again the next day and call him at 160 385 1762 if more devices showed up. Well, sure enough, the next day, my computer showed five devices. Checked again today, 27/5/16, and there were loads! I didn’t get back to him though, instead I spoke to my security provider.

These scammers pretending to be from Microsoft are everywhere, but they ain’t legit. They just try and get into your PC to nick your info or worse. Stay sharp and don’t let them on your network.

Some bloke with a funny accent rang me up claiming to be from Microsoft, saying there were six new programs on my laptop. He started asking loads of questions but by then I knew what was going on and said no to everything, even when he asked if I had a laptop - I just said NO! Then he just hung up on me. What a bunch of muppets these scammers are. That said, I do feel sorry for the poor sods who fall for their lies and tricks. Stay sharp and keep your wits about you, folks.

Just got another call from a bloke with an Indian accent, calling himself David, or maybe James or Robert. The usual sorts of names. He was trying to say there’s some problem with my network. Last time he said he was from TalkTalk, which funny enough is my provider. When I checked with TalkTalk’s security team, they gave me a couple of tips. One was to use their call blocking feature which lets you block up to ten numbers. Or you can just leave the call going for a few minutes without saying anything, then hang up.

They mentioned something about 6 devices being linked to my wifi, which seemed a bit dodgy to me. Then they wanted me to download some software, which made me even more suspicious, so I told them I wasn’t interested in fixing it and assumed everything was okay. I’m curious what they were really after?

Total scam. My partner told me yesterday that this number (01895808363) called him and wanted to speak with me. Then today, the same number showed up on my phone and a bloke, who sounded like he had an Indian accent, said he was calling about a tech problem with my computer. I was baffled cos there’s no issues with my PC, so I asked him to explain. Instead, he just said he needed to remotely access my device but didn’t say why. When I asked which company he was from, he hung up straight away. No clue how they even got my partner's and my phone numbers.

Had a call just now, they used the exact same line as others mentioned here: claiming 6 devices were connected to my home WiFi. After I told them I actually live at work and we've got our own IT team handling security, and we never deal with outside companies, the guy muttered something that sounded rude and then cut the call.

Got a call earlier from someone with a thick Indian accent, saying his name was David Smith (yeah, sure) and that one of my many email addresses had triggered an alert about six new computers connecting to my network. I asked straight away if he was from Microsoft, and he claimed they were linked to them. I kept him on the line and he told me that my Windows OS had sent them an email warning of these new connections. I then said, "That’s odd, because I only use a Mac." He said he'd note it down and then just hung up. Absolute nonsense!

Some bloke with an Asian accent rang me, said he was from Microsoft and wanted info about my PC network. Honestly, Microsoft never phones you direct - they’re not ones to waste cash on calls like that. When I asked him which company he was with, he suddenly sounded shaky, and that’s when I clocked it was a scam. From what I can tell, this dodgy caller only started doing this sometime around late March or early April. (Maybe he used a different number before, who knows?) Anyway, if you spot the same number calling, give ’em a piece of your mind, might just put them off. Fingers crossed!

Got a call from a guy with an asian accent saying he was with some "Network Protection Team" thing. He said 5 devices had been added to my network recently. It just felt fishy, like he was after info about my computer. I asked him to say again the name of his company and he just cut the call straight away. Definitely sketchy, avoid these sorts of calls.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft or something similar. They already had my name, phone number, and email, and said there were attempts to add like four laptops or Xboxes last night. Also asked if my neighbours had my wifi password. I said I wasn’t by my laptop and would have a look later, then they just ended the call. The voice sounded Asian and the number was from Uxbridge.

Somebody just rang me up going on about sending me a brochure, then started chatting about football shirts and asked which team I supported!! I’m not into football at all! Told him I wasn’t interested, he was silent for a sec then goes alright, I’ll make a note of that!! Haha, what a daft bloke!

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent saying that 7 people were using my internet through my email. He wanted me to log into my computer and check settings. I told him no thanks, I’d let someone I know have a look instead. He didn’t like that and started getting quite pushy, then just hung up. Scary thing is, he knew my name, email, and who my internet provider is. Pretty worrying stuff.

Without my specs, I can't make out who’s ringing me. So I picked up and there was nothing but faint breathing on the line. Then the call just ended. When I rang them back, the automated message said "this number is no longer valid". These bloody scammers drive me up the wall. Honestly, I wish I could chuck 'em in a bucket and just get rid of 'em.

Some bloke with an Indian accent claimed to be from Microsoft and wanted me to verify my email address (which I refused). He said that loads of devices had been linked to my Microsoft account and asked if I shared my internet with my neighbour. Honestly, steer clear of them and never ring back if you miss a call from this number. What I’ve found matches what others have shared - they claim to be Microsoft network tech support or something similar. They’re not calling to assist you, more like pushing some kind of marketing or maybe even pulling a scam. Try asking them to take your number off their list, but I doubt they’ll bother.

Got a call from some Indian bloke claiming to be from Microsoft. I told 'em I was on an Apple device. I just messsed about, kept 'em on the line for a good 10 minutes. Said someone was at the door, asked if he could hold on. Came back now and then, kept stringing him along for about 15 mins. Then I started playing little games to waste even more of his time till he finally gave up and hung up :)
