Yesterday at 6pm they rang my wife, then today at 10am they called me with the same question asking if I was at fault for an accident. I told them I wasn’t involved, but they kept ringing me over and over so I ended up blocking the number.

You're thinkin it's a fresh number, but phone numbers usually go in sequence, like 07710123456, then 07710123457, and so on. So these auto diallers just call numbers one after another. Also, your number might not be new at all. It could have been disconnected a while back and then recycled for you to use now. That's that, carry on.
