I got a call about my Hotpoint washer, but I don't even own one. The person then asked what brand I actually had and even though they knew my name, address, and postcode, they didn't know my age. They guessed it was between two ages and I foolishly replied yes. Lesson learnt: don't ever agree to anything, just put the phone down straight away!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming he was from British Gas. He asked me a couple of questions, and I dumbly said 'yes' before quickly hanging up. Now, I’m just sitting here anxious, hoping they don’t try to use what I said to scam me :-(

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from Hotpoint. He was using an ancient postcode of mine and wanted my current one instead. When I told him to take me off their list, he got all defensive asking how they could when I was supposedly a customer. He also said I bought a Hotpoint last year, which is rubbish. Really sounds like a dodgy scammer. Since the number is visible, shouldn’t this be something the police can look into?

Got a call from a bloke named David, said he was ringin’ from Hotpoint. He rattled off my old postcode, and when I told him that wasn’t right, he asked for my new one. I told him I didn't own any Hotpoint stuff and he just cut me off. Be careful, don’t agree to anything on the phone - they might be using your voice to record stuff!

I got a call from a bloke who sounded Asian, he said his name was Robyn, which I found a bit funny. He asked me my name, but I don’t like giving that out over the phone so I kept quiet. Then he said his name again like I didn’t hear it the first time. When I asked what he wanted, he goes ‘oh blimey, too many questions’ and just cut me off. Proper rubbish! I’ve had scammers on the line for half an hour before, making them think the cops were coming. This one just gave up straight away.

Got a call today from a man with an Asian accent saying he was with Bosch. He wanted to know if I was Mrs (my husband’s surname). I told him no, then he tried again with Mrs Julie, but he had the wrong first name for us. I told him to just call me Mrs. He quickly said goodbye and told me to get lost from their company. Funny enough, their system wouldn’t take calls coming in.

I got a call from someone asking if I was Adam Johnson, and I said yes even though I’m a woman. They knew my postcode and guessed I was over 51, then said it was just a quick confirmation call before hanging up. Makes me think maybe this Adam Johnson won some sort of prize? Honestly, I have no idea who he is. Anyway, I’ve blocked that number now.

Got a call on 29/5/18 from an Asian woman who spoke English quite badly. She started by asking if I was [correct name]. As usual with random calls, I wanted to know who was on the other end - she said she was from M&S and even dropped my postcode (which I’m not sure was right). Kinda made me suspicious, but since I do take part in M&S surveys, maybe it was legit. Then she asked if I was over 55, and when I hesitated a bit, the call suddenly ended. Today, I also got a silent call from '01248 364990' roughly at the same time.

Heads up, this caller showed a dodgy number supposedly from Uxbridge, but it also mentioned International. A woman with an Asian accent rang asking for my daughter, saying she was from Marks & Spencer - which is odd because my daughter doesn’t shop there at all. Sounds like a scam to me. I’ve popped the number on my PlusNet (BT) 1572 block list and that blocking code appears to be doing the trick.
