i think this number got faked or spoofed somehow

Got a call from this number earlier, some bloke called 'David' who claimed it was about my Tesco mobile account. When I told him the line was crackling badly (which it really was!), he just hung up on me. I looked the number up online and it actually belongs to a local chippy, so 'David' must have faked the number or whatever. Bit dodgy if you ask me.
