Got a call from 01893 280131, some automated voice telling me I’d bought something and £1000 was taken from my account. They said to press 1 to talk to them. Clearly a scam, so I ended the call straight away. I don’t even have a bank account! Just a heads up, don’t press any buttons and hang up immediately.

No idea who that was! Ignored the call completely. Lately, there’s been a load of scams, like that one with automated calls about Amazon subscriptions - total rubbish! Best to just hang up. And that classic Microsoft trick! Or from BT/Virgin claiming your internet’s running slow. It’s been the same nonsense for ages, like 20 years now. When they call, I always ask what my operating system is, since they pretend to know all about my PC! Of course, that’s when the line drops quick sharp!

Got a ring this morning at 8:20 on the 20th of February, 2020, from a number, 01893284276. An Asian-sounding gentleman was on the other end, saying he was representing BT Openreach regarding my broadband. I figured it was a scam of some sort, so I chose not to engage in any dialogue.

Received a call on my home phone claiming that a hefty sum of £600 had been withdrawn from my account. They wanted me to hit 1 to sort it out! I promptly checked my bank balance and found all was well, so I blocked the number right away. It turned out to be 01803 778807 - an Indian-accented woman on the line!

01893 780764 Rang but I didn't pick up, then after it stopped ringing I dialled 1471 and that’s the number it showed. The area code seems to be from Australia. I searched the whole number on Google, but only the 01893 part came up. When google asked if I wanted to include the rest of the digits I said yes, but all it showed was some pdf about patient access or something. Still no clue why they called, we’re ex-directory, so if they don’t leave a message, I’m just gonna ignore em, politely of course.

Got a call from 01893 238385, answered and all I heard was silence for a few seconds, then the line went dead like they hung up. Definitely sounds like a scam or some kind of hassle. I’ve had loads of calls before from people pretending to be "BT" saying they’d cut my internet off even tho I’m not a BT customer. Feels like it’s the same group again.

Got the same code, but with a different number (053456). Same ending phone sound and robotic bloke’s voice. Tried calling back and the code’s not recognised. Just another waste of time scam. They must honestly reckon we’re daft, but I guess if they get one outta a thousand, it’s enough for these twats.

Somebody called saying they were from BT support and told me my computer had issues. I asked for my IP address, then the line suddenly went dead. Sounds like they wanted to connect me to a tech guy who’d try to control my PC.

Got a call from 01893 563660, picked up and straight away some automated voice said my BT line and internet were about to be cut off today. It asked me to press 1 if I was a BT customer or 2 if I used a different provider. I didn’t press any button or speak, and after about 20 seconds the call just dropped - they didn’t repeat anything or give more info. I rang BT straight after and they confirmed it wasn’t them. They warned these scammers might ring again and said best to just hang up and ignore it. Hopefully this helps anyone else who gets these dodgy calls.

just got another call from 01893 and honestly want to flag it as dangerous. the last 6 digits were all different. sounds like a big scam trying to get you to call some "technician" to fix your computer details. i'm pretty sure they wanna hijack your computer for some dodgy botnet stuff. really creepy and they don't stop. block them if you can, but whatever you do, don’t press 1.

01893392237 called my 88 year old mum who has dementia. An automated lady with an American accent said “Shirley from TalkTalk here, we've been trying to reach you about your internet that's going to be cut off.” By the time I relayed the message, she’d already hung up, fed up with the scam.
