Got calls from this number twice in one week, both times a recorded voice claiming to be from HSBC Fraud Team saying they’d frozen payments on two big transactions from different firms and asking me to confirm if they were legit - they said to “Press 1 to speak to fraud dept”. I hung up straight away without pressing anything and double-checked their official HSBC number, which was different even though it shared the same first few digits. Then I searched this number on here and rang HSBC directly, and they confirmed this number isn’t one of theirs at all. Definitely a scam.

Beware of this number! It’s definitely a scam. They rang me twice within a week, playing a recorded message claiming to be from the HSBC Fraud Department. It stated they had put a hold on two sizable transactions from various businesses and needed me to verify if they were legitimate. The message urged me to “Press 1 to connect with a Fraud Department Representative.” I hung up immediately and verified the number for HSBC, which thankfully turned out to be different, although it shared the same exchange digits. A quick search on this site confirmed my suspicions about this fraudulent number.
