I honestly wish someone was paying me for all the calls I’ve had to endure! In just 6 days, I’ve been bombarded with over 1400 calls. Because of this, I’m going to have to cancel my number 01887 820888 from tomorrow. It’s really frustrating, especially since I’ve had this number for more than 40 years. Big thanks to those dodgy con artists at that awful company for forcing me into this.

How come these scammers keep buzzing our phones and the telecom companies just don’t seem to care?? Like, surely they must be getting some sort of profit out of it, otherwise why else would they let these pests keep bothering old folks who can’t really defend themselves?? It’s really frustrating!!

I haven't made any calls from 01887 820888, yet people keep ringing me saying it’s me. It seems like a scam where they've linked my landline to that number. I'm so tired of folks accusing me of phoning them when I haven’t dialled out once. Please stop calling my number!

Got an automated lady on the line warning me my internet would get cut off unless I hit 1. Just hung up straight away. Seems like a dodgy scam to me, definitely not worth risking anything with that.

I picked up the phone but all I got was silence before they hung up - classic scam move from what I’ve read in other folks’ comments. Had a couple of calls this morning from various numbers, none of them legit. Looks like these scammers are hitting different areas now. Honestly, the Government needs to step up and start tracking these crooks down, even if they’re overseas.

Try to keep them talking for as long as possible. The longer they’re stuck with you, the less chance they have to bother someone who might be easier to trick.

Got a call from 01887820888 on the 21st of Feb - the person claimed to be from Amazon with some issue on my account. Then, the very same number rang again on the 24th Feb 2020, but this time they said they were from my phone company warning me about ‘illegal calls’ being made from my number and that it’d be cut off in a day unless I pressed 1 to speak to an engineer. Total rubbish, just annoying scammers messing about!

Looks like some scammers have faked a real number that probably belongs to someone private. So I’d avoid calling it. If this is a scam line, ringing it might just cause you problems. The poor person whose number got copied should get in touch with their network provider straight away.

I've had this number, 01887820888, ring me up three times already. It's some recorded message saying my internet might get disconnected if I don't hit 1. Feels dodgy to me since they never say which internet company they're from. Definitely sounds like a scam.

This number just rang me and it was some automated lady talking about my Amazon Prime subscription needing to be renewed. She told me to press one if I wanted to speak to a manager - sounded super dodgy to me so I hung up straight away. I don’t understand how this scammy caller has been allowed to keep buzzing so many people without the police or phone companies stepping in. If you get a call like this, my advice is to just ignore it, check the number using 1471, and make sure you report it to the proper folks.

It's impossible to get rid of these callers since they just switch numbers all the time. What I do when I have the time is waste as much of theirs as I can, so they ain’t out there tricking someone else. I never give them any details and just act like I’m following their instructions.

It's the usual lot of scammers from India, especially around New Delhi, trying to get you to open TEAMVIEWER. Seriously, don’t ever let anyone talk you into using that software - it’s a favourite tool for fraudsters from India and Pakistan for years. Also, watch out for the site [#]AMAZONREFUNDDEPT.WEB[###], that’s a total con as well. Seems like this number has been spoofed multiple times, so I wouldn’t trust it one bit. You could always ask them what the weather’s like just for a laugh.

Got a voicemail from some mystery bank or credit card firm claiming there was a payment made with some random card to an account abroad. Definitely one of those scam calls. Can't believe these scams are still going on. The best way to tackle them over time is by reporting every scam call to the police. Just search for 'action fraud', click the link for 'police.uk', then head to their 'reporting' page and report it as phishing. You don't even need to sign up or anything.
