I got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying I’d been caught cheating on my tax returns. They told me to ring them back immediately on the number they left because apparently it’s already in court and I’m facing a heavy prison sentence. The tone was pretty intimidating, and it was left on my answering machine since I couldn’t get to the phone just then.

So this person called me saying my internet got hacked and wanted me to let them into my computer via TeamViewer to fix my online banking security. They said they worked for British Telecom. When I asked for a phone number to verify their identity, they gave me one but as soon as I ended the call, all attempts to ring them back were blocked. The number they used was 01441867281890, just a heads up.
