Got a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, they spoke to a woman with an Asian accent saying she was phoning a number on the TPS list and that she was breaking the rules. They also said she wasn't from HMRC and demanded to know what company she was calling from. Then they got rude and started calling me stupid. Definitely a scam, since HMRC always send letters first and ask you to get in touch.

Got a call about my dad, who's elderly, saying they wanted to help with his debts. Since I hold his LPA, I said no and asked what debts they were talking about, but they couldn’t give any info. I told them to deal with me as his LPA. Also warned them if they called again I’d report it to the Fraud Police and mentioned a gov paper. It was only when I firmly said there was no debt that she actually agreed to end the call.

01887593317 rang me this morning but I didn’t pick up. I told them yesterday to stop calling as it’s getting really annoying. I’ve ignored earlier calls from this number too since it shows as unknown. Seems like a scam to me. Wish there was some tech that could track down these pests properly.

Claiming to be from HMRC trying to get money off me - total scam! I just put my phone by the telly and blasted the sound, so I at least wasted a minute and 45 seconds of their time before they finally gave up and hung up!

Got called by an Asian woman who said she could help me get a refund or something - I barely caught what she was saying most of the time. I just told her, "No thanks, not interested, bye" and then she went quiet. I just hung up after that.

An Indian/Asian bloke called and asked if I was someone by a certain name, turns out that was the old owner. When I said no, he started calling me rude things and just hung up.

I received a call from someone who appeared to be of Asian descent, claiming they could assist me in retrieving my PPI from HMRC. When I questioned their ability to do so, they persisted, insisting they just required some references. However, when I mentioned my background working in the fraud division of HMRC, they suddenly claimed to be part of the scam department. Upon informing them that their call could be traced, I heard them exclaim a rather rude phrase before abruptly ending the conversation. Quite the dodgy encounter!

Got a call from 01887593317. When I answered, there was complete silence for a bit, so I said hello. Then a lady with a strong Indian accent and broken English asked to speak to my mum, who passed away more than 15 years ago. I told her she could try contacting my mum through a crystal ball if she wanted a chat, then I blocked the number and ended the call.

When I picked up, there was no one there. If history tells me anything, I’m sure I’ll be getting more calls soon. I usually have a fake bank sort code and account number ready to give out. Honestly, I’d love to see their reaction when they try to use an account that doesn’t even exist. I find it quite satisfying messing with these scammers.

Keep getting calls for a Mr Edwards, which is not me at all. I've told them several times they've got the wrong number and asked nicely for them to take my details off their system. Still, the calls and even emails keep coming through. It's really frustrating having to keep telling them the same thing over and over.

Got a call from an asian woman saying I'd won a prize connected to my postcode. Her accent was so thick, I barely caught what she was saying. Honestly, no clue how these scoundrels manage to fool anyone!

Some woman from abroad rang up saying I won the postcode lottery & wanted my bank info. When I said I’d call the cops, she just snapped back with, “Have a bad day, you bad b####.” Real pleasant, that one!!

I got a call from this number earlier, with someone saying they were ringing from the Postcode Lottery and that I’d won several prizes. She kept pushing me to hand over my sort code and bank account details so she could send me £399. I flat out said no, but she wouldn’t give up. I told her if she was legit, she’d give me her number - and then, without warning, the call just got cut off. This kind of thing is proper awful and needs to be shut down fast.

Got a call just like someone else mentioned, said my postcode had won a £369 voucher for nearby shops. I played along for a bit but lost interest pretty quick, they were obviously fishing for my bank info. The accent sounded Asian, maybe from Pakistan or somewhere in the Far East. I guess they must be scamming some folks or they wouldn't waste their time.

They were going on about some discount card for my postcode area or something... Anyway, picking up the call let me finally block the number. If they ring on another line, I’ll just pick up and block that as well. Is phone scamming even considered a proper job nowadays? From what I see, it’s just a nasty way to make cash off unsuspecting people who happen to have a phone.
