I picked up the phone and a bloke with what sounded like a London or Essex accent said he was checking in about a Green Energy request I supposedly put in some time ago. He claimed the call came from Aberfeldy, Scotland. I told him straight up that I never asked about Green Energy and called him out as a scammer before ending the call. Seriously, telecom firms and regulators really need to use AI to weed out these dodgy types.

I asked him like three times where exactly he was from, but all he did was keep reading the same script. When I pushed and said, "Look, to be sure this isn’t a scam, tell me the area you’re supposed to be advising," he suddenly went quiet and then just ended the call. Pretty clear to me that it was a scam.

About five minutes ago I got a call from this number. I picked up but there was just silence on the other end. I waited a few seconds - around 5 - and then said “bye” quite quickly before ending the call. Afterwards, I checked what others were saying here, and like usual, the community had some useful advice. I keep receiving this annoying call, always starting with that same recorded message from a variety of numbers. Afterwards, someone comes on asking if my home could support solar panels.
