10 yearsToday (20th September) I got a call from this number and a woman with a Liverpudlian accent kept asking for me by name. She said she was from ARC or something similar (the call was pretty crackly) and mentioned a recent car accident I'd supposedly reported. When I told her I hadn’t reported any accidents, she just abruptly ended the call. What’s odd is I don’t usually share my mobile number, but I did just make some insurance enquiries, including with Confused.com (they're mentioned here, right?). Bit suspicious if you ask me.LiverpoolArcConfused. com10 yearsGot a missed call then called back, turns out the secret code word is 'blocked' and these lot are apparently from Scarinish in the Outer Hebrides? Proper weird, some sketchy Asian outfit all the way out there, definitely a scam.ScarinishOuter HebridesAsia11 yearsHad a call from some bloke asking if I was with "x" driving school. When I said yes, he started asking if I was responsible for the electricity at my location. I explained that I work from a car since I run a driving school, and then he just ended the call. Quite strange, really.11 yearsGot a call from a polite guy named Daniel, who sounded Asian. He asked for me by name and said he was ringing from the refund team, claiming I was due £1500. When I asked for more details, he spelled out “e_f_U_n_d”. I replied with, “Thanks, that’s useful, but which company exactly?” He told me it was the GCA, apparently the Government Claims Agency. I said alright then and ended the call. They were quite convincing, but I really hope these scammers never manage to trick anyone who might be less cautious.DanielGovernment Claims Agency11 yearsGot a call from a guy with an Asian-sounding voice, no company mentioned. He asked for Mr xxxx, but that’s actually my girlfriend’s name, not mine. I told him there’s no one here by that name and asked who was calling. Then he says, “Where’s xxx xxx?” again naming my girlfriend. I got a bit annoyed and said, “Look, that’s not how you speak to me. Now, who exactly are you calling from?” and then he just hung up.11 yearsGot a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from some PPI firm I’ve never dealt with. Told him I wasn’t interested and that it sounded like a scam. Blocked the number straight away, again.11 yearsThis number just rang me up, and when I asked who was calling and what they wanted, the bloke on the line with an African accent began swearing at me. Proper irritating!11 yearsThis number has called me twice now today. When I tried to find out who it was, the person on the other end just told me to piss off.11 yearsKeeps ringing all the time which is really annoying. I never pick up during the day but always check the number with 1471 after they hang up. One time I did answer and asked who was calling. The bloke had a foreign accent and then insulted me with some horrible words. What a daft lad!11 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be from a ppi reclamation. He said I had a loan and was owed some cash back through a finance firm. I’ve never dealt with any finance companies at all. When I asked for their full address, he only mentioned Centre Point in Manchester and didn’t want to give any more details. Felt a bit dodgy to me.Centre PointManchester11 yearsThey've rung me about five times today. On the last one, I told them I already said we don’t have anything, seeing as this was the fourth call! Then he just told me to F off and slammed down. What a nasty piece of work. I’m flagging the number as dodgy for sure - it’s obviously a scam, and I bet some folks less careful might end up handing over bank info for some fake “refund”.11 yearsgot a call saying i owed money on a loan i never even took out. when i asked for their website, they just said something about ppi claims but wouldn’t give an exact url. then they just cut me off. later the same number called again but with a different voice. i asked for the details again and just as i was about to tell them to take me off their list, they hung up on me. can’t wait for the next time so i can maybe blow a whistle down the phone or something (though i probably won’t). these calls drive me mad!PPI11 yearsA bloke with an accent rang me claiming he had some good news. I just ended the call but he phoned straight back again. Then he kept saying "hello, hello, hello" non stop until I said calling like that was harassment and then he suddenly dropped the call.11 yearsI'm receiving daily calls for someone named Mrs Cook, and despite repeatedly informing them that I’m not her, the calls just keep coming. When I explain that I am not Mrs Cook, they go silent and remain on the line until I eventually hang up. There's no apology or acknowledgment of my frustration; it's incredibly irritating. These callers are not only bothersome but also quite rude. Is there any way I can get in touch with them to request that they stop calling my number without having to escalate things to the police? Whenever I try to call back, I just get a busy signal. I'm really at my wit's end with this situation-any advice would be appreciated.
