I’ve been receiving these baffling phone calls that go completely mute as soon as I pick up. If I inquire who’s on the line, there’s this faint “click” before a voice with a distinctly foreign lilt introduces themselves as Roger. It’s crystal clear to me that they’re trying to pull a fast one! I recommend flagging these numbers; when I get one of these calls, I simply call them out as scammers and let them know I’ll be reporting them. As soon as I mention that, they hang up without delay!

Got a call from some dodgy place trying to sell investments, sounded like one of those boiler room scams. I just blocked the number and reported it straight away.

I got a call from a woman with an accent who knew my first name right away. She said she was ringing about an advert I'd supposedly replied to. I wasn’t sure what she meant, so I asked her to repeat herself. After she did, I asked which advert she was talking about. We went back and forth a bit, then suddenly she snapped, “You’re not a child, you understand what you're doing online, so stop wasting my time. I'm done here. Goodbye,” and then just hung up. Rude much? The number showed as coming from North Uist, Scotland.

Got a call about chatting now regarding some online investment opportunities, but it was obvious it was a scam.

Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, so I let it ring out. After seeing the reviews here, I’m glad I didn’t pick up and have gone ahead and blocked the number now.

Just rang up my mum a bit earlier and this lady with an accent answered saying "Hello, #my mum’s name#". After that, everything went quiet for a moment, then I heard what sounded like a dialling tone. Strange stuff!

01876708124 Honestly, I like to turn the tables on these calls. I tell them I’m fetching the person they asked for, then just keep them waiting until they get frustrated and hang up. Sometimes I even say they've reached a Chinese takeaway and ask what they fancy ordering. One time I claimed we were a Presbyterian Church of Saints and they ended up hanging up pretty quick. Proper funny those moments!

Got a call from some guy claiming he was calling from Cyprus, asking loads about investments and stuff. I had no clue what he was on about, but seemed dodgy like a scam in the making. Of course, I just ended up blocking the number straight away.

Got a call from a woman with an accent I couldn't place, asking for someone named Michael. Told her she’d got the wrong number. She asked for my name but I insisted I wasn’t Michael. Then she claimed the database showed I was. I asked her to take my info off under GDPR and told her not to ring again. She ignored me and snapped, “If you think you’re trying to intimidate me, you’re wrong.” Then she kept firing questions at me, which I just ignored and hung up. Definitely some dodgy scam trying to get personal info.

Got a call from a lady with an American accent, she kept asking for my name. When I tried to get her name, she just repeated her question. Then she suddenly asked if I spoke English properly, and started swearing at me, saying she’d keep ringing me non-stop. I wasn’t having any of it and just hung up. Really rude and annoying call.

A woman speaking with an accent I couldn’t place called me. I asked who she was trying to reach, but she gave me a name I’d never heard before. I said that person wasn’t associated with this number, and then she asked who I was, but I didn’t want to say. When I questioned her about the reason for the call, she just ended the call straight away.

I asked her a couple of times what company she was from, but the second time all she said was "ok bye bye" and just hung up. Strange!

Someone phoned my mum’s mobile, demanding to speak to me, and they were really disrespectful to her. They kept saying I’d asked for some financial advice, which I never did, and when I said that, they snapped back, "I just told you moments ago." When I asked them to take my number off their list, they were pretty cheeky and said, "I can’t do that, (my name), you’re not in charge here." I’ve blocked the number now.
