Some bloke claimed he was ringing from the Citizens Advice Bureau. I told him I didn't believe him, but he kept insisting he was. I calmly told him again he wasn’t, and then suddenly he shouted something like “get lost, you ####” before slamming the phone down.

Quite a few calls from this and other nearby numbers keep coming through to me. I’ve no idea why Tranent folk would be ringing me, as I don’t know anyone there. Got a missed call but no voicemail or anything. If it was a legit company, they’d usually leave a message with their contact details. Number was blocked too, so a bit fishy. I tried calling back and all I got was an automated voice saying the number isn’t available right now. Ended it there. Proper businesses always say their name on the voicemail, so I’m guessing this was a scam.

They called me and asked for Gary by name. I said, “Who’s speaking?” and this bloke answers, ‘Gaarrryy, mate!’ like that 😂. Sounded like someone from Asia, definitely. Then he claimed he was from the citizens advice bureau, lol. I asked what was the reason for the call, he just went silent and then hung up. So, I guess that’s no proper scam, then! 🤔😂😂

Got several calls over the last week coming from somewhere in Scotland, claiming to be from the NHS about Covid, but then trying to sell life insurance. The last three numbers kept switching up like 373, 375, 376, 377. I just blocked them all.

If you really want to help put an end to these scam calls, the best thing you can do is report them. It doesn’t take long at all, and it’s quite straightforward. The problem is, info on how to actually report gets lost among all the scam reports (which we’re all familiar with by now) and you have to scroll a fair way back on this thread to find it. Look out for one another and help keep the community safe by making sure you report every scam you come across.

Received a call from 01875808373, the bloke said he was from public health and had an asian accent, asking loads about my health. When I asked if he was a doctor, he just said he was with the public health department. I questioned why he cared about my health and then he just hung up on me. This number, and others like it with slightly different endings, have been ringing me up loads of times selling rubbish. Seems like dodgy business to me.

I received a phone call from someone with an Indian accent purporting to be from the UK Healthcare Centre. This person seemed quite knowledgeable, as she was able to reference my full name and even my address accurately. The conversation revolved around my vaccination history, immunisations, and my life insurance coverage. It felt rather suspicious, to say the least.

I’ve been getting calls two times daily from various numbers. This Asian guy tried three times to pronounce my English name, which honestly isn’t difficult. When I asked him who he was, he just hung up and then got blocked.

Those dodgy scammers from Asia are just awful. Honestly, the only thing that might help is if we keep filing reports non-stop. I’ve bookmarked the ‘Action Fraud’ website after seeing someone mention it down here, so I’m going to keep using that to report every time I get one of these calls. It does make it quicker, but unless loads of people start reporting them, I doubt much will change. Still, I’m definitely not giving up on reporting them.

Got a few calls from this number early in the morning, about 5 in total. Since it looked like a local number, I gave it a ring back. Turned out to be a call centre with someone speaking in an American accent, saying my call was important. I ended the call once I figured that out. Definitely not answering anything from this number again. Funny how they’re now using local area codes!
