I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming someone in California had been using my IP address. She said she represented BT when I asked who she was with. I told her I didn’t think she was really from BT, and she threatened to cut off my phone line. I hung up and phoned BT myself, and they confirmed straight away it was a scam.

I rang BT to check this out. It seems these calls come from outside the UK but use what look like real UK phone numbers. At the moment, there’s a big scam going round all over the country about supposed hacking issues connected to your broadband. Beware!

I received a dodgy call claiming to be from BT! I decided to keep the conversation going for a bit, but when I mentioned that I wasn’t interested in BT, she abruptly ended the call! Quite the cheek!

I've had multiple calls from this number over the past week. This morning, a woman named 'Annie' who claimed to be from 'BT' reached out, informing me that my internet security was compromised. She offered to guide me through some procedures to fix it. Her voice gave the impression she was at a bustling call centre; she had quite a noticeable Indian or Pakistani accent and was exceedingly courteous. I told her I was heading out and suggested she email or post the information instead, then I hung up.

Got two calls today on 8/6/2017, and weirdly between them I got another from a number showing as 'unavailable' from somewhere else. Pretty sure it’s all the same lot of scammers. Honestly, calling them a nuisance is putting it mildly. There’s got to be a better way to deal with these people than just blocking or ignoring every unknown number that rings.
