Could I have accidentally called a pricey premium number and got charged even though I didn’t actually call? So confused!

Got a call from this number the other day. When I answered, no one said anything at first. Then a woman with a Welsh accent came on and tried to explain who she was and why she called, but she spoke so fast I couldn’t really catch it. She asked me about my insurance provider, but I told her I wasn’t going to say. After that, she just said goodbye and ended the call.

This is about Fusion Cover... from what I know, the bloke running it shoved the company into administration cos loads of people were after him for money. Then he shifted the business to Neath, but under some different Fusion-related name. Someone flagged it up to the FCA because the manager told us to claim we were insurance brokers, even though FCA had said we weren’t allowed to say that. I worked there once and trust me, asking to be put on the TPS was pointless - we weren’t allowed to; we had to make all the calls ourselves. Honestly, I’d get in touch with your phone company and report it. It’s just a big con... I’ve been hassling the guy for months over unpaid wages and he treats his staff terribly. - from a former caller at Fusion

i used to work at fusion, the place run by pasha mohammed. honestly, he never really cared who we phoned, just told us to never accept a no and to be quite aggressive with the calls. btw, his mobile is 07800 780022 if anyone needs it.

I used to be at Fusion Cover and honestly it was a nightmare. The manager, Pasha Mohammed, is an absolute muppet. He instructed us not to put people on the TPS but to mark them as a call back instead. They’re definitely not brokers, even though the FCA has told him he can’t call himself one - but he still does. All the work was just comparing home and life insurance policies, then gathering your info only to end up with your original provider offering cheaper deals, because we had to drop commission - which none of us ever saw anyway. Would highly suggest steering well clear.

Today (07/03/14) I got a call from this number and it was a dodgy life insurance pitch. They seemed to be working from an old list because they asked for the previous owner, not me - and they pretended it was about an existing policy, but that turned out not to be true. When I made it clear I wasn’t interested and ended the call, they tried ringing me back straight away. I ignored it and they didn’t bother leaving any message.

Just to add to what I said before: after looking more into it, it seems this is a real business - real as in they actually exist - but judging from the comments here, they definitely don’t come across as very honest. They look like they’re insurance brokers or something similar, but whoever is doing the calling is using an old, probably outdated numbers list and being quite deceptive to whoever picks up. That’s really not on, if you ask me.
