I’ve blocked this number already but they rang me again from a different one, still from Wales. I’ve had to block like 50 numbers over the last few months. Could it be O2 selling my number? Only my family and close mates have it. I switched to O2 when I got a new phone, never had this hassle before when I was with EE, but the signal was rubbish so that’s why I changed.

I didn’t pick up but checked it out here before. From what I’m seeing in the Verso mentions, it looks like the same lot who called me yesterday from an Aberystwyth number 01970 629179? Pretty sure the lady said something about the Philippines back then. How on earth do they get hold of UK landline numbers? Feels like the phone companies might be working with them or something.

Got a call from 01873739280 saying it was a survey, not a sales call. I told them I wasn’t interested but they kept pushing, saying it would be good for me. I said I thought it was just a survey but they wouldn't drop it. Told them again I wasn’t interested and tried to end the call but they kept going, so I just had to hang up.

Abergavenny?? No idea who that is so straight onto the block list. I never pick up calls from numbers I don’t know that aren’t local. This scam has been around forever. Some unemployed Bollywood bloke or actress rings up pretending they want you to do a survey. What they really want is to get you saying YES and NO on record so they can pretend to be you for phone banking. (Does phone banking even still exist? Thought it was dead like cheques.) Anyway, it’s not a surprise they know your name and address. Loads of firms sell personal info to whoever pays quick cash. You’d be surprised if you couldn’t dig up at least one by looking around. Probably the first place you check.
