01873736243 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01873736243 👆 is reported as an increasingly persistent nuisance caller linked to mobile phone upgrade sales, often claiming affiliation with well-known providers like EE, O2, or Carphone Warehouse. Numerous users report repeated daily calls, silent answers, or hang-ups when answered. Some have been misled into unwanted contracts or unwanted phones, while others describe aggressive sales tactics and difficulty cancelling agreements. Although a few acknowledge dealings with legitimate but overly pushy sales representatives, the majority warn of harassment, outdated customer data use, and poor customer service. Many advise blocking the number and caution against sharing personal or banking information. Registering with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) appears ineffective against calls from this source. Visitors are urged to remain vigilant, verify claims independently, and report any suspicious activity.

Someone said they were from O2 and told me I could get an upgrade. Bit of a dodgy one though - it was actually Carphone w###house just trying to pitch me a new phone. Ended up blocking them.

Got calls 4 times in last month or thereabouts. My phone’s with Carphone Warehouse atm, and they actually rang me just a few weeks back from the same number! I’ve put their number on block and definitely not gonna stick with Carphone Warehouse when it’s up for renewal.

Last week I looked up on the Carphone Warehouse site to see if I could upgrade my phone anytime soon. I was a bit scared they’d start hassling me, and then this morning I got a call from a number I didn’t know. Guess I was right to be a bit suspicious!

Totally a scam! They claimed to be from O2 and sent me three SIM cards plus an S8 phone. They gave me 14 days to think it over and said they’d ring back to check if I wanted the contract. Never got a single call from them. I kept trying to call to say I didn’t want it but no one answered. Eventually I got through to someone, but she was really rude and told me there’s no way they’ll cancel the contract - I have to keep the phone and the contract whether I like it or not.

Had a chat about upgrading with Carphone Warehouse but I haven't used them for 2 years. The info they had missed out on two different tariff switches I made since then. Seems obvious they've passed my latest details to this firm. They tried to confuse me into thinking I had multiple accounts or something. Looks like their trick is to make you believe they’re your actual provider and trick you into signing up with someone else.

A firm named "Upgrade my mobile" rang me. At first, the person claimed to be from O2, but then they switched to promoting EE's offers. When I asked, they quickly backtracked, saying "Oh, I didn't mean to say I was from O2." They were really insistent on making a sale. I kept saying I was fine with my current provider, but they just wouldn't take no for an answer until I finally said, "I'm not giving you my info, cheers for calling," and then they ended the call.

We've recently opted for the most affordable data plan with Sky, so this could very well be a promotional call. However, I’m left scratching my head as to why they go silent the moment I answer.

Thanks to this platform, I'm now aware of the caller's identity, and I’ve decided to disregard and block their number.

I've received several calls from this number and whenever I pick up, there's nothing but silence-it's quite frustrating. I'm seriously considering blocking them. I have far more important things to attend to! It does make me wonder how they even acquired my mobile number in the first place.

Like they said - 'Time to upgrade your phone'. They are connected to EE but it's more of a loose link! I actually got a contract with them a few years back, but they totally messed things up so I ended the contract and returned the phone. Fair play to them for accepting the return, but it’s still spam really! Funny enough, I’m seeing EE adverts on this site too! lol.

These callers just keep on with the hassling. If they were actually working with EE, they should already know I updated my plan recently. And if they were any good, they’d have taken me off their list after I told them over a fortnight ago about the upgrade. If they genuinely weren’t scammers, they’d have stopped ringing me after I told them to never call me again. If they really are EE’s partners, this kind of pestering is definitely making me rethink who I choose for my next phone contract.

I gave them a ring after my cousin snagged a brilliant offer on his Sky package, and I couldn’t resist doing the same! I've just cancelled my own Sky account and set up a new contract in my wife's name. Now we've got the Sky Q box along with Sky Sports and Sky Movies for just £40 a month-what a steal!

They do work with EE to some extent since they seem to have access to some customer details (like others have said, maybe a bit iffy). Anyhow, I’m pretty sure they got me once, trying to push these budget deals from their selection that’s quite small and probably not what you’re after. They’re really good at squeezing you into one of their offers. They seem alright, just your typical sales call at the end of the day.

I'm pretty certain I've had to deal with these folks before. They seem to be connected with Orange/EE's mobile stores or offices, handling upgrade schedules for Orange/EE clients. They seem genuine and are probably just looking to help customers jump the line for upgrades and new contracts. It's okay to deal with them, but you have to stay firm and not let yourself be persuaded into an upgrade you don't really need. And no, I’m not promoting them by saying this.

I tend to ignore calls from unfamiliar numbers, so I've chosen to block this one. If you're feeling adventurous and do pick it up, you might want to let them know that the line isn’t great on your end and suggest they reach you on a different number. Why not throw in the digits of another pesky caller or even a premium rate line for good measure? Quite the cheeky move!

Got a call from 01873736243 on my mobile. They said I’m eligible for an updated phone and claimed they’d taken over Orange, but I no longer use Orange as my provider. We agreed to the upgrade, but then they asked for a direct debit and my bank details, which I didn’t give. They said they’d send me a text and email, but I’m still waiting. Not sure if it’s legit, so I’m planning to get in touch with Orange. They mentioned the new phone and contract would show up within two weeks.

I've been getting hounded by this number that incessantly rings, always wanting to speak to my husband. I've made it clear that this isn't his phone, yet they persist in trying to chat about a mobile upgrade-such a cheeky tactic! I've taken to simply declining their calls, but it's truly vexatious. Considering I'm battling cancer and awaiting surgery, I feel compelled to pick up every call, just in case it's the hospital or another important service that often withholds their number. It’s all a bit of a bother, to say the least.

Today, I got calls at 09:30 and again at 16:51, plus there was one yesterday at 12:57. Going back a bit, I had a call on the 30th of July, 2015 at 14:23 and another one on the 29th at 13:25. Before that, on the 25th of July, 2015, they rang me at 15:17. Earlier this year, I had calls on the 22nd of June at 11:02 and 16:19, then one on the 12th of June at 12:28, and lastly, another on the 2nd of June at 16:24. After one conversation where I firmly declined an update, it seems that no one bothers to respond when I do pick up now.

Exercise caution with this company - they’re a right piece of work. I received a phone call from them suggesting an upgrade for my mobile. I clearly stated that I had no interest in upgrading, but they went ahead and did it regardless. Now I’m left with a device that’s completely useless since, for some bizarre reason, the new SIM card got activated prematurely, something that should only have occurred once I received the new handset. I contacted their customer service, and they denied any wrongdoing, even though EE provided me with their details! Stay far away from them; they’re trouble!

I’ve been inundated with calls from this number, roughly six times a day for the last couple of months. Oddly enough, whenever I pick up, there’s complete silence on the other end. I did try ringing back once, only to find out they’re peddling mobile phone deals. Honestly, I refuse to squander my money on these calls if they're too lazy to hold a conversation when they ring me. It feels like a bit of a scam, designed to entice me into calling them back so it’ll cost me rather than them. I believe action ought to be taken against such practices across all industries, not just in the mobile sector.
