Got a recorded call claiming to be from UK Essentials doing a survey or something, asking me to leave my name and number so they could ring back. Nah, I’m not falling for it - sounds like a scam to me.

Over the past few days I got about half a dozen calls from different numbers, all saying they were from Smart Savings UK, some kind of charity trying to offer me a discount card or something. I’d already checked the number and told the person on the phone I suspected it was a con. They didn’t take it well at all and started getting all defensive, even going as far as saying they’d sue me! It’s really annoying having to deal with that rubbish.

Got a call from a guy who claimed he was with the TP scheme, telling me I had to update my credit card info. I've heard this kind of rubbish before, so I cut him off straight away and told him he was joking if he thought I'd hand over any card details! About ten minutes later, my dad got the exact same call. He’s 91 but sharp as a tack and didn’t fall for a word of it. Still, it’s worrying knowing some poor vulnerable person might actually fall for these nasty scams.

Not really sure who that was. They kept asking for a Mrs Walker, which is actually my old surname but I haven’t gone by that in ages! I told them they got the wrong person, but they just asked again for Mrs Walker. So I told them to bugger off and hung up on them.

Got calls from this number like 5 times between 9 in the morning and just before 2. I’ve been getting calls all week but just ignored them till today. After looking up the number, I saw lots of folks flagged it as annoying so I picked up on the fifth ring. The person was an Asian woman saying she was with the TPS, had my full name and address but messed up the postcode. She asked if I was getting nuisance calls, so I told her she had the wrong place and that her call was actually unwanted. Then I ended the call.

Over the past few days, this number kept ringing me at different times, and I eventually picked up just to mess around with the person who said her name was "Shirley" (yeah, right!). Before she could launch into whatever scam spiel she had prepared, I threw a few "security" questions her way. What’s your mum’s maiden name? What did you eat for breakfast? Can you give me your debit card digits, Shirley or whatever you call yourself? She went totally quiet, so I told her not to bother calling back since it’s pointless and she's clearly up to no good.

I’m completely fed up with this lot constantly phoning me! The guy claimed he was from something called Telephone Preference Management Services, but that’s not the official TPS we’re signed up to. We shouldn’t be getting these nuisance calls at all, since we’re definitely on the real TPS list. I didn’t let him witter on, just told him to bugger off and take me off their blasted calling list for good. Honestly, I’ve said that to them more times than I can count!

Got a call from a man with an Indian accent claiming he was from TPS. He somehow knew my name and address, and mentioned we pay by direct debit. Then he asked me to confirm if my bank card expires in 2018. I told him the payments come from my husband’s account. He went on to ask again about my card expiring in 2018, and that’s when I just hung up.

I just got a call from some total muppets. I hung up straight away, no point wasting time on them - they were pretending to be from some phone preference thing just to get my card info. Honestly, they should be locked up for fraud or at least for wasting people’s time. Ridiculous!

This person was trying to trick me into giving my card info, claiming I’d paid for some call blocking service but that my card had expired or something. I never signed up for anything like that anyway, I’m on the TPS list which doesn’t cost a penny. Plus, I’ve got this CPR call blocker which lets me block any annoying spam calls instantly. No way I was giving out my card details!

A guy with an Asian accent called asking for Mr xxx, a name we've heard before from other wrong calls. We told him he had the wrong number and he just ended the call straight away. The number was quite close to some we've had previously where the caller pretended to be from the TPS trying to push an upgrade and asked for our bank info to "complete the order". We declined and he hung up on us as well.

Beware! They keep calling repeatedly, and when you pick up, they pretend to be from the TPS, asking if you’re getting loads of nuisance calls (which honestly, they’re the ones causing!). Afterwards, they try to get your name, address, and even your card info, claiming they’ll "upgrade" your TPS to block their calls. Just so you know, TPS is totally free. If you can, block the number. If not, feel free to give them a piece of your mind, or just ignore them altogether.
