Just got a weird recorded call saying it was from Microsoft or maybe BT about some cyber security problem on my router or computer. They threatened to cut off my internet if I didn’t act fast. They even told me to switch on my PC and helped me install some program or something. Honestly, don’t fall for that rubbish, it’s definitely a con!

Got a call from a bloke with quite a strong Asian accent saying he was calling from BT about my internet. I told him straight away that I’m with Virgin and that BT doesn’t deal with Virgin customers, but he just kept talking over me, insisting they were the same. I ended up just hanging up. Later, I checked the number with 1471 and it showed the call came from Castlebay in Scotland. Makes me wonder if the call was legit after all? But if it was, why was he clueless that BT and Virgin are different companies?
