Got a call saying there was a try to buy an iPhone using my Amazon account, and they wanted my card info to prove it wasnt me. I just told them to quit trying to scam people and ended the call. You could hear loads of noise behind them, so must be some big scam ring. Seriously, where do these scammers come from? Who’d actually get up and go to work in a job like that??

Blocking scam calls is pretty useless these days. They just ring back over and over again with loads of fake numbers, thanks to all those computer-generated mobile and UK landline numbers. If you really wanna make a difference, report every scam call straight to the police fraud team. Just search for ‘Action Fraud’ and you’ll find the official UK police site. Head over to their phishing reports section and scroll right down to the bottom to fill in a quick form. That’s the best way to try and tackle these scams.

This number has called me twice in as many days but when I pick up, there’s just silence. It’s really frustrating. If it’s some kind of scam, my guess is they want you to ring them back so they can charge you. Honestly, BT should really start cracking down on these numbers being handed out to scammers.

I found myself chatting with an Indian caller for roughly a quarter of an hour. He rambled on about the fluctuations in my broadband speed, and apparently, he was quite convinced he could see them from his end. He inquired about my upload and download speeds, along with the ping latency, all of which I happily provided using my own tech tools. However, when I pressed him on the identity of my actual service provider, he seemed stumped and then went on to recommend a company I’ve had zero interactions with. At that point, I decided it was best to end the call.
