I have to say, anyone on this forum claiming that "he sorted out all the issues with our computer" is undoubtedly part of the con. BE AWARE! I cannot stress this enough - steer clear of these individuals! Just hang up on them!

I operate a modest computer repair business down in the South West, and notice that the clients who’ve come under fire from these dodgy characters all seem to be BT Broadband users. Just out of curiosity, how many of you share the same connection? It appears they’re utilising a software known as AMMYY, which allows them to remotely access your computer at any given moment, often without your awareness. You can check for it by pressing Ctrl, Alt, and Delete to bring up the services, then take a peek in msconfig to halt it from running. However, I usually advise my clients to undergo a complete wipe and reload of their systems to ensure all traces are eliminated. One of my customers mentioned he fell victim to these scammers, so I took it upon myself to reinstall his operating system. Just two hours after I returned his device, he received a phone call stating, “we can’t access your computer anymore.” I highly recommend that you reach out to BT, OFCOM, and Trading Standards to lodge complaints against these individuals. Unfortunately, OFCOM needs a minimum of 500 reports to take action, and they’ve currently addressed the concerns of just 100 callers. Best, Eddie

We’ve recently fallen prey to a scam perpetrated by an individual from Pakistan, who was using aliases like Ryan or Brian. This person claimed that our computer was compromised by a trojan and various other viruses, offering their assistance for a hefty fee of 80 euros for a year’s worth of support. They even promised a complimentary six-week Norton subscription! This con artist asserted that they were affiliated with Windows Cure and provided a phone number-0186 5600 544-to contact for any future issues. I urge everyone to be cautious and not make the same mistake we did, as we were deceived into providing our banking information, which we later had to cancel.

I received a phone call from a gentleman claiming to be part of the Microsoft technical support team. He mentioned that they had detected numerous errors being transmitted from our devices and that he was there to assist in rectifying the situation. We noted down his name and number, then discreetly called it back using our mobile without his knowledge. Quite the affair!

I received a call from a chap named Henry who asked me to connect to the internet and access computer management. When we asked for some identification, she came across as rather dodgy. We even asked for a callback number, but she hung up on us instead. It’s clear these individuals are up to no good. Best wishes, DS.

I too received a dodgy call from this number, 01865600544, or to be precise, it was our neighbour who answered. A woman with a noticeable foreign accent was on the line, claiming to be calling from ‘Windows’ and stating she had a report indicating an issue with a computer here. Apparently, there was an error message blinking away, and she wanted to connect to resolve it. Please, for the love of your personal information, do not engage with this! It’s nothing more than a scam, and these individuals are nothing short of data predators.

A mate of ours has been getting non-stop calls lately from someone with an Asian accent claiming to be “Steve Jones”. This chap says they’re getting inundated with malware alerts on his computer. The number they've been ringing from is 01865600544. They've been pestering him to go online so they can sort things out for him, but we’ve strongly advised him against doing so. Apparently, they’re trying to pose as an online support service for Windows systems.

I received a call today from the same number, 01865600544. A chap named Mike, who had a rather strong accent, claimed he was from Windows. He insisted that I turn on my computer so he could assist with the sluggish performance I'd reported. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

I'm really pleased with the service I've received from this company; it's quite commendable! I must give a shout-out to Alex, who was an absolute gem in resolving my computer issues. His assistance has been invaluable, and the prices they offer are remarkably fair.
