9 monthsNo answer and no voicemail again, so I'm pretty sure it’s a scam.1 yearGot two calls one after the other. Didn’t answer the first, but the second time they asked if I was so-and-so and then just ended the call.1 yearTotal scam, don't trust it!2 yearsGot a call from a scammer who just rang, said nothing, then ended the call. Sounds like they’re just seeing if the number’s live, probably to pass it on to other scammers.2 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be Three Mobile UK, offering to lower my bill - problem is, I've never even been a customer with them! Right after setting up WhatsApp on my son's phone for his birthday, this random guy with an Indian accent popped up on the call. I barely spoke to him before realising it was a fishing trick. Make sure you cancel your card and get a new one before they sneak that £40 “refundable” fee. Hopefully they end up keeping whatever they’re sending and get caught in their own game!WhatsApp2 yearsJust looked up the number they called me from and what a nightmare! Got hit with this mobile upgrade scam that's way more clever than you'd expect. Honestly, it was only luck that stopped me getting caught out. First, you get a really believable call about an upgrade - not some ridiculous deal, just a decent offer that seems legit, all dressed up with proper looking emails and texts (mine was from Three). Then, after the initial chat, the ‘delivery team’ from a London number 02038856226 rings to sort out delivery. They send you a phone, but it’s totally wrong - I got an iPhone 15 when I had ordered something else. They send all the usual Three paperwork and SIMs with it too. Then, after a load of apologies, they ask you to send it back by taking a barcode to the post office. They even promise you a small gift for the trouble. Just when you think you’ve got their trust, they drop a text or email asking you to confirm your email with a click, then push you to approve a payment through your banking app for the right phone’s delivery. It hit me then - this is a proper scam. Watch out, everyone! @MartinSLewis @GBNEWS @actionfraudukLondon2 yearsSo I just got a call on my brand new Tesco mobile pay as you go, from a guy with an Indian accent who said he was from Tesco. He was asking how much I usually put on my phone each month. When I mentioned I pay Vodafone £15 for unlimited calls, texts and data, he suddenly offered me unlimited everything for just £10. Then he tried to get me to pick a colour for a free iPad, and started firing off all these security questions like what my overdraft limit was and my old address number and stuff. Felt kinda dodgy to me, but I answered anyway since I only use a visa card and can always do a chargeback or change my account details if needed. Guess I’ll find out soon enough... Here’s a pic of the phone showing Tesco https://ibb.co/6Bk2spb The number that called me was 02038856226TescoVodafoneco2 yearsThe phone only rang once and I didn’t bother picking up.2 yearsGot a call from a lady with an Asian accent saying she was from O2. Took me a while to get what she was saying - at first I thought a kid was on the line. I had my radio blaring while I was painting, so that made it worse. Just picked up without checking since I thought it was my missus. I told her nicely I wasn’t interested and asked to have my number taken off their list. Honestly, I don’t get why some folks get rude about these calls - what if the caller was just passing your number about on purpose? Anyhow, I’ve blocked them now.2 yearsGot a couple of calls back to back from those numbers too. Shortly after, two more calls came through, one from 01172054843 and another from 01242692913. Both times when I picked up, the call was just cut off straight away.
