Today, I encountered a phony BT engineer who warned me that my internet would be disconnected unless I complied with his demands. He was so intense, it felt like we were on the verge of disarming an explosive device! I decided to have a bit of a laugh with him, pretending to follow his orders while tossing him some bogus details. He definitely didn’t appreciate my antics!

Got a call from what sounded like BT Openreach but it was actually some scammers based in India. They threatened to cut off my internet if I didn’t follow their instructions. They tried to convince me to install remote access programmes like TeamViewer or LogMeIn so they could take over my PC. Once inside, they’d grab all your personal info - passwords, bank stuff, social media logins, the lot. I heard they might even change your Windows password or use syskey to lock you out and then demand a big fee to unlock it. Really watch out for this scam!

I reckon this might be a Bauer reference about a magazine re-subscription or something along those lines.

Got a call from a Market Harborough number earlier, but they didn’t leave any message. Just missed it, wondering if anyone knows what it’s about?

My phone rang twice, so I picked up but there was nothing but silence on the other end. I decided not to call back after looking the number up online, since it looks like it might be some kind of scam!

I received a call from this number, but they didn’t bother leaving a message. I remember I used to get Trout & Salmon magazine, so I’m assuming Bauer Ltd is hounding me to sign up again. These mysterious phone calls can really be a right nuisance! - caller: 01858 438807

I decided to terminate my subscription to Practical Classics magazine since I found the same issues for half the price on eBay! This number keeps ringing, but when I pick up, there’s complete silence on the line, and then they just hang up! It’s hardly the level of customer service one would expect! I’ll be quite relieved to relocate soon and ditch the landline altogether. - Caller: Bauer UK

In the past, I subscribed to three different magazines: Bauer, MCN, and Land Rover Owner + Bike. I decided to cancel my subscriptions to the first two a while back, and I was assured that they would continue until the end of the subscription period - which seemed fair enough! However, it seems I can't escape their calls, as they keep trying to get in touch. Now that I’m aware of the number, I typically just let it ring. I did pick up a call the other week to politely request that they cease calling me, only to be met with a pushy offer about renewing my subscription to Bike magazine, which I had never actually cancelled. When I pointed this out, they claimed I had indeed called it off, and, feeling a bit cornered, I agreed to renew it at a more affordable price, which was perhaps a slight victory. Still, it hardly portrays a good picture of their customer service if they can't even handle my initial request properly. And wouldn't you know it, the calls are still coming in thick and fast. It’s rather frustrating, especially since I’m on the TPS register; however, I suppose they believe my being a subscriber warrants them using my number! - Caller: Bauer Media

I received two missed calls today and I’m left wondering how they managed to get hold of my number! I'm registered with the telephone preference service, so I'll be flagging this up straight away. I certainly don't appreciate being harassed by annoying magazine subscriptions or anyone else for that matter-it's utterly uncalled for! Those publications must be truly awful if they're resorting to such tactics!

I've pulled the plug on my subscription to MCN Bike Magazine, yet I’m still harassed by calls urging me to rejoin. It’s always Bauer Media on the other end, and they never leave a message; just incessant ringing. So frustrating!

I received a call on my phone from a number I didn’t recognise, so I decided to let it ring out and didn’t bother answering since there was no voicemail left behind. Quite frustrating, to say the least! But thanks to your helpful comment, Laura, I’ve now discovered who it was. I previously had a subscription with Bauer Media for Garden Answers, although I opted to cancel it some time ago. - Caller ID: 01858 438807

I've received a couple of calls recently, both times my answering machine caught them, but they neglected to leave any message. It turns out the number is associated with a Catholic publication known as The Tablet, situated in Market Harborough. I can't fathom how they managed to acquire my number or the reason behind their attempts to reach out. If they happen to ring while I'm around, they certainly won’t be prepared for a right lecture - it’ll be a sermon they won’t soon forget! - Caller: The Tablet

I received a call from this number but couldn't answer in time. When I called back, a recorded message mentioned something about a "magazine subscription". The odd thing is, I don’t have any subscriptions at all! The caller appears to be a Magazine Subscription Service. Strange, isn't it?
