10 yearsThis morning, I picked up a call from 01857700354, which popped up as a known number (I generally don’t answer numbers that are listed as unknown). However, since I was anticipating an important call, I thought it might be related and decided to answer. I greeted them with 'Hello' three times, but there was no response, and I was just about to hang up when a chap with a Liverpool accent suddenly asked for me by name. I chose not to acknowledge this. When I pressed him on where he was calling from, he mentioned something like 'Albany'. He went on to claim that I’d been involved in a car accident two and a half years ago (which is a complete fabrication), and despite my repeated denials, he tried to persuade me otherwise. When I insisted he must be mistaken, he just said they must have got the records wrong. Before I could inquire how on earth he got my details, the call dropped! It's utterly bewildering how these individuals manage to obtain such personal information. Not to mention it's most unsettling to receive calls of this nature.
