12 yearsI recently received a call myself, right around 18:49 on 11 June 2014. The voice on the line struck me as either Chinese or Japanese, if I’m not mistaken. It felt familiar due to the warnings I’ve seen about scams. The individual claimed to be from Microsoft's Security Department, mentioning there was a critical issue with my computer, but wouldn't elaborate on the specifics. Quite unsettlingly, he seemed to know my address and my wife’s name too. I suspect he may have obtained this information, including my phone number, from PC World, where my wife made her initial computer purchase not long ago. It's the first time she has bought one independently, as I have always handled those transactions before. It raises serious concerns that someone at PC World might be peddling personal information.MicrosoftSecurity DepartmentPC World12 yearsI've been receiving numerous silent calls from the number 01274792012. Quite frustrating, to say the least!12 yearsI received a call as well, precisely at 18:49 on the 11th of June in 2014. The voice on the other end sounded either Chinese or Japanese, or perhaps something similar. It felt familiar, reminiscent of those warning adverts about scams. They claimed to be from the Microsoft Security Department, insisting that my system had a critical issue, yet failed to clarify what the problem was. To my surprise, they were aware of my address and my wife's name. It's quite alarming to think they might have obtained that information, along with my phone number, from PC World, where she had recently made her first computer purchase independently. In the past, I had always handled such transactions. It seems rather suspect that someone at PC World could be selling off private information.Microsoft Security DepartmentPC World12 yearsThis caller attempted to persuade me that my computer had issues. I’ve set up my voicemail to indicate that I won’t take calls from unknown numbers or mobiles! Fingers crossed they’re not as relentless as those pesky international and 0207 callers!12 yearsBeware of calls claiming they can repair your computer just by entering a code! It's all a ruse to get your details. Don't fall for it-tell them to take a hike! 🛑12 yearsDodgy blokes, those! They pretended to be from BT or Microsoft, claiming my computer was infested with a virus. Good thing I’m in IT and led them on a right merry dance instead! Fingers crossed I managed to use up a good chunk of their time. Sometimes, it’s a rather muted voice from someone in India, always chatting about safeguarding one’s device from pesky pop-ups on the internet. It was a rather amusing way to pass the time!India12 yearsIt’s infuriating how often this number rings with no one at the other end, particularly in the later hours!
