I recently received a phone number after dialling 1471, but I'm a bit perplexed as to whether it's genuine or if the details have been obscured in some way. An American voice came on, claiming to be affiliated with BT or O2, stating that my home line had been compromised. They suggested I press 1 to get in touch with BT, and then 2 for yet another telecom company. It all seemed quite dodgy, so I hung up and decided to check here to see if anyone else has encountered this.
