I received a phone call from a pre-recorded female voice claiming to be HMRC, but the number showed up as being from the Newquay region on my iPhone. I couldn't catch everything she said, but it was the typical high-pressure spiel designed to freak you out, complete with a “Press 1” prompt that probably leads to some dodgy scammer at the other end. I stayed on the line for a bit, but then the call suddenly dropped.
