Absolute rubbish, these time wasting scammers from over in that region. They claim they’re from BT Openreach and say your internet’s got a virus or something. It’s just plain daft and you can even catch other voices chatting away in the background with the same story. Blocking the number you get when calling 1471 doesn’t help much since it turns out to be a disconnected UK number, but they’re actually ringing from abroad. Proper annoying!

These scammers just don’t give up. For the last few weeks, they’ve been ringing me about four times daily, always from different fake numbers overseas. If you’re using a mobile, I’d suggest adding your trusted contacts to ‘favourites’ and then turning on ‘do not disturb’ mode so unknown callers don’t get through. It’s a bit annoying, but at least it stops them buzzing you all the time.
