There was a call from this number on 19/10/22 but I missed it and didn’t pick up.

I got a call on my home phone which I didn't pick up, so I rang back using 1471. Then they rang my mobile and there was an Indian accent, saying they were from some office, but the line was really bad so I couldn't catch what they were saying properly. After that, I got a robo message saying "this persons voicemail box is full, please try again later." Bit weird if you ask me.

I didn't actually answer the call, but I looked up the number here. It’s near my area, and there’s no chance there’s any Microsoft office or anything like that around there. Seems like the number was probably just purchased, which really should be something the government sorts out.

I got a call from someone who somehow knew my name and asked if I was using a Windows computer. He told me there were some issues and wanted me to grab my laptop so he could guide me over the phone on how to fix it. I told him I wasn’t able to do that, and then he just ended the call.

Got a call from a guy with a strong Indian accent, said he was from Microsoft’s tech support. He claimed my computer was sending them error messages, which is weird because I don’t even own a computer. I played along and told him I hadn’t seen any errors pop up. But he kept pestering me, asking again and again if I was certain about that. Eventually, when I stuck to my story, he just ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam, and after looking it up, it was confirmed. Total waste of time.

After reading some of the remarks here, I've become more alert. When a call comes in from this number, my phone shows it as Possible Scam. I've just blocked it.

Had a cheeky phone call today, 13th October 2022, from someone claiming to be with the Microsoft Tech Support. He insisted that some dodgy programme on my computer had been compromised and wanted to walk me through the steps to fix it. I wasn’t in the mood for a lengthy chat, so I told him it wasn’t a great time and to give me a bell later instead.

After that, I decided to investigate the number he called from - 01832771124 - and discovered quite a few others have had similar run-ins. Thought it best to share my experience here.

I couldn't pick up the call, but if it was someone saying they were from Microsoft, they’re obviously not telling the truth. Don’t waste time contacting Ofcom - just report it straight to Microsoft. They’ve got the resources, the influence, and the motivation to shut these scams down, even when these fraudsters are running the scam from a call centre overseas, like in India. They’ve handled this kind of thing before.

Got a call about my computer, but I told them I don't even own one! The caller then seemed kinda lost for words. They knew my name though, which was a bit creepy. I guess maybe because I’d just bought something on eBay, that’s how they got my info? I just said this has to be a joke and ended the call straight away!

Someone rang me up, actually using my name! They started rambling on about computer updates that supposedly needed my urgent attention. I wasn’t having any of it, so I called them out on their nonsense. I asked them what kind of computer I owned, thinking I’d catch them out, and guess what? They just hung up! Thankfully, I realised it was a dodgy attempt to gain access and possibly hold my computer hostage. Just a word of caution to everyone - stay alert!

I received a rather dubious call on my landline the other day, and let me tell you, the line was absolutely dreadful - it was riddled with static to the point where I could barely make out what was being said. This chap claimed to be from the ‘Microsoft Tech Team’ and insisted he needed to discuss my computer with me. I responded, "I’m really struggling to hear you." He then repeated his spiel, but it was still a struggle to decipher anything. So, I politely said, "Cheers, but I’ve got to go," and ended the call. What a palaver!
