This was totally a SCAM! The woman claimed to be from BT Tech support, which was obvious bollocks. She offered to “lower” my line rental to £19.99 but I’m already paying £18.99, so that would actually be more expensive! Then she wanted a one-off payment of £12.99 for call blocking, and insisted they needed my credit card to set it up. I rang BT myself afterwards to report the scam call and gave them the number these fraudsters used. I reckon BT ought to put a warning about this on their website to protect their customers.

Got a call from a guy with a nice Asian accent claiming to be from BT, saying my landline bill would drop by £24 starting tomorrow. Sounded dodgy to me, so I just ended the call. Then I used BT's nuisance call feature - you just call 1572 afterwards and pick option 1 to block the number if they ring back, so they won’t bother you anymore. Definitely gave me pause, but glad I had that option handy.

Got a call from a bloke saying he was from BT, sounded proper convincing. Didn’t even flinch when I asked for a number to ring him back - which turned out to be completely fake. Scary how he knew my full name, address, and landline number. How on earth does he have all that info? He was trying to sell me some amazing BT deal with a one-time payment for call blocking. I get these calls pretty regularly from a guy with an Indian or Asian accent, sounds like he's calling from abroad. He says there's something wrong with our BT router. As soon as I mention we don’t have BT, he just hangs up. Tried to report it to Action Fraud, but what a nightmare that was! Tried the online form and it wouldn’t go through, then rang the number they give and couldn’t get hold of anyone. Makes me wonder if they’re part of the problem or something.

Got a call at 7:50 this morning, but didn’t pick up, then the line just went dead - pretty sure it’s some sort of automatic dialling. About the bloke saying only BT can show name and number, actually, there’s apps out there that let you see the contact name linked to a mob number, if the other person uses the same app. I found this out myself after giving my number to someone from a utility company; she managed to see my name on her phone through one of these apps.

they keep callin nearly every single day, really persistent. they claim to be from bt sayin they’ll stop all unwanted calls for a one off charge of £12.99. don’t fall for it, it’s definitely a scam. my dad, who’s in his late 80s, got tricked and gave his card details. ended up losing £3500! luckily the bank managed to refund him after about 3 months, but still a big hassle. be careful folks!

I got a call from 0183200264 and it seemed to come from somewhere abroad but not properly identified. On my BT Decor 2600 phone, it only showed the number itself, but if you use the older BT Decor 1200 model, it usually says "international" or something similar. Quite confusing really!

I picked up the phone and the person on the other end just dropped the call straight away. Then, about quarter of an hour later, I got a call from a hidden number. The bloke said he was calling from “visa mastercard,” but something didn’t feel right. When I asked how Visa and Mastercard could be the same company, he said they had merged recently. I wasn’t buying it and pressed him a bit more, and he just told me to "bugger off" before slamming the phone down. I reckon that 0183 number is tied to this dodgy scam.

Normally, I steer clear of overseas calls but since my lad's living in NZ, I picked up this one at half 8 this morning 7/11/17. The bloke had an Indian accent and said he was calling from BT in London about blocking phone calls. I told 'em straight I didn't reckon he was on the level and suspected he was one of those scammers trying to dupe me. He just cut the call off after that.

Called me claiming to be from BT, but you could tell from the accent they were likely from somewhere in India. They already knew I was with BT and that I pay via direct debit. They tried pushing a call blocking service with a single payment option, but when I asked if it could just be added to my bill, they got a bit pushy because I refused to give any card info.
