They seemed to know my former name and even the last few digits of an old bank card. I don't believe I should be shelling out money just to halt or prevent these pesky calls. I often receive calls where there's absolute silence, only for the line to cut off a moment later. It feels like a dodgy scheme to me. I've taken the step to block the number.
