Absolute rip-off! They managed to scam an elderly person out of £129. I have a copy of the bill, and after contacting Nominet, they revealed the owner’s address linked to the number. Turns out the bloke runs a company with about 600 telesales staff based in Kolkata, India, according to his LinkedIn. The business itself is registered in Coventry, and there are six other firms owned by the same people. The dodgy payments went straight into a Barclays bank account. This has been reported to both Trading Standards and Action Fraud.

Got a couple of calls from a guy with an Indian accent, who said his name was David. The first was on Saturday morning; he claimed to be from Microsoft support, saying our computer was getting harmful files. This came after two previous calls - one supposedly from Talk Talk, but we haven't been their customer for ages, and another from a firm that sounded like Amensis or something similar, but I didn't quite catch it - both with Indian accents. Then David rang back saying he was with Amensis.

This bloke called looking for someone called Stephen. I told him straight up we haven’t got a Stephen at this address. He got all rude, asking why I wouldn’t put him through, but I kept telling him there’s no Stephen here. Then he told me he had to speak to Stephen and just slammed the phone down. Next time, I reckon I’ll just say I’m Stephen and see what happens!

We've had only six calls from this number today, which is strange since lately they've been ringing up to 20 times a day. They keep warning us that our computer is in danger and say they'll shut it down unless we let them remotely access it. We've told them we've reported their scam to the Information Commissioner's Office, Action Fraud, and others. They're quite aggressive and don't take any polite refusals seriously. I've blocked the number now, but I’m sure they’ll just start calling from a different 0208 or 0113 number next.

This number's been calling us loads, claiming we've got a rundll32.exe virus that needs sorting. They wanted me to give them a code so they could access my PC, but I refused. After that, they started threatening to shut down both my computers! I just couldn’t see why I’d let some random person control my machines. They’re really pushy and keep ringing non-stop.
