My mum got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, saying there was an issue with her internet router. Thankfully, she wasn’t able to understand the steps he wanted her to do on her laptop, otherwise it could’ve been a right mess.

Got a call from 01810809956 but thankfully I wasn't home. I've had a bunch of those so-called "Microsoft" calls before, they try to trick you into handing over your IP address so they can hack into your system. What I usually do is give them a fake IP, something that’s like a trap. Then, when they try to access it, it logs their IP instead. Works like a charm and they stop hassling me.

I don't pick up calls from numbers I don’t know. This time, I let it go to voicemail straight away and the second the answer machine started, the phone just hung up on me.

Got a call from a blocked number with some robotic voice telling me my computer was at risk. About 20 minutes later, this number rings me again but no one speaks when I answer. These guys don’t give up easy, proper annoying!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from Microsoft and that my PC had been compromised. I wasn’t buying it at all, so I just ended the call.

This morning I kept getting phone calls from someone who seemed to think I was clueless about using computers. They kept saying my PC was under attack and needed fixing. Quite annoying!

Try to keep 'em chatting and eating up their time. The longer you have 'em hooked on the phone, the less time they have to trick someone else. If you play it right (talk slow and sound a bit out of it), you might hold 'em on the line for ages, sometimes over an hour! Just don't under any circumstances let them get access to your PC.

Got a call from 018!0809956, some bloke claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my computer was full of viruses. I just told them to jog on nicely and ended the call.
