I had a rather unsettling encounter with a caller who demanded to speak with my 87-year-old father. I informed them that I was his daughter and primary caregiver since he suffers from dementia. To my surprise, they outright refused to disclose their identity, insisting it was a confidential issue! I made it clear that they couldn't converse with him under such circumstances, but they pitifully claimed they would attempt to reach him again another day. It was quite alarming, to say the least!
