Got a voicemail from this number, and it just didn’t sit right with me. Luckily, I looked it up here first and now I’m gonna delete it without a second thought.

Got a robocall from someone pretending to detect suspicious transactions on my bank account. They told me to ring them back. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from someone saying they were from my bank, mentioned some dodgy charges - like £300 on Amazon and over £1000 on other stuff. They didnt sound British at all, which made me suspicious straight away. I told them I'd ring my bank myself to sort it out and hung up. Definitely a scam, so I never gave them any details.

Check out the BBC 1 show 'Scam Interceptors' on iPlayer for a proper insight into how these scams go down. It’s pretty chilling. The good guys, ethical hackers, actually hack into the scammers’ computers while they’re ripping people off live, trying to put a stop to it. You wouldn’t believe how advanced their setups are - if you ring them, they’ll somehow get access to your bank info and clean you out. If you get a scam call, text 7726 to report it.

Got a call supposedly from some bank’s fraud department about two charges on my card - one was about £300 to Amazon, the other over £1,000 for something overseas. They told me to press “1” if I wanted to cancel the payments or “2” to talk to “customer support”. I didn’t engage and just ended the call. I later looked at my credit card statement and no suspicious transactions showed up, nothing I didn’t authorise. It’s obviously a dodgy scam trying to scare people into giving up info by preying on their worries about card fraud.

SCAM ALERT - Someone called claiming to be from Bank Security saying there was a £300 charge on my Amazon and a £1400 transfer abroad. None of these showed up on any of my accounts. If you get a call like this, dont press any buttons, just end the call straight away and try to block the number if possible.

There has been an attempted fraudulent activity in a bank, where the intention was for you to press a keypad to connect to one of their scammers. The call falsely claimed that certain transactions had been made, but in reality, these transactions never occured. Their aim was to establish contact with you and deceive you into transferring money to them.

Got a call from this number but it hung up right when I picked up the phone. I don’t expect calls from Rye, Kent, so my guess is it’s some kind of scam. It rang on my landline too, which I rarely use - I only keep it 'cause it comes free with my BT broadband and it's more of a backup these days. I mostly use my mobile. So yeah, any calls on the landline are pretty suspicious in my book.

I recently came across a Facebook advertisement that mentioned Elon Musk and a cryptocurrency scheme. Intrigued, I decided to provide my details online and ended up receiving an immediate phone call. The person on the call emphasized the need for me to open a bank account in order to convert the currency before it was deposited into my account. Luckily, my computer malfunctioned, which gave me time to research the number I had received from them...

I was already talking on my phone when this number buzzed, so I let it go to voicemail - no message left though. After seeing what others said, lucky I didn’t pick up! I think I’ll just block it now. Had a call like this the day before too, they seem to pop up in bunches.

Like others have said, this is a really basic try. There’s no real info given, so it just comes off as something a newbie put together. Only the most naive would fall for it, honestly.

Beware of a BANK scam in which you may receive a pre-recorded message notifying you about two substantial sums supposedly requested from Amazon. The message will prompt you to press a button to speak with a representative. While it may be tempting to give them a piece of your mind, unfortunately, doing so might invite more unwanted contact from them. These nuisance calls are truly exasperating, and it would be nice if someone could put an end to them.
