I said a simple "hello" but got nothing back. After a bit of quiet, I heard some clicking sounds and then a quick burst of what sounded like the busy murmur you get in call centres before the line went dead.

Been getting loads of annoying calls asking for my bank card details. Just a heads up, don’t give out your debit card number to anyone on the phone!

A woman with a really thick “Indian subcontinent” accent called me claiming she was from some sort of ‘call blocking service’. She told me thanks to her call, I wouldn’t get annoying spam calls any more. I told her, “Actually, I already am, right now,” meaning her call was itself an illegal nuisance. Then she just hung up. Funny enough, I have BT’s free ‘All Protect’ caller blocking, and that’s exactly where her number ended up!
