Avoid hitting "1" when they call - it’s the classic “your internet’s been hacked” trick. I’ve had this automated lady named ‘Shirley’ ring me over and over, warning that my internet would be cut off within a day, which obviously never happened. Out of curiosity, I pressed 1 to see what their game was. Turns out they were trying to take control of my computer or phone to do some dodgy stuff that wouldn’t help me at all. The so-called “tech guy” with an Asian accent ended up calling me stupid before hanging up on me.
