The person on the other end had a clear foreign accent, and the first thing he asked was, "Do you own this landline?" I asked for his identity, but he just ignored me and launched into a spiel about offering help to those getting unwanted calls. The irony wasn't missed, believe me. I quickly told him I didn’t know who he was and that I was ending the call. Then I hung up. Now his number is blocked. Normally, I wouldn’t have picked up, but I was expecting a local business call since the number had a local area code.
