On Wednesday, the 2nd of September, I received a rather suspicious call on my mobile which I managed to miss, thankfully! The number displayed was 01795 534083. It raised my eyebrows since it was a landline, and upon investigating, I discovered it had a Sittingbourne code. As I don’t have any acquaintances from that neck of the woods, I couldn’t shake off the curiosity about what the call was regarding. It’s quite vexing, really.

I had a rather curious encounter with someone possessing an Indian accent, who insisted that my internet was in peril. They attempted to dazzle me with all sorts of technical jargon, claiming some other chap was utilising my connection. Strangely enough, after reading my mobile number aloud, I received a text message containing a unique 4-digit PIN, which left me feeling a bit dubious about the whole situation (CLEARLY A SCAM). I decided to throw a few technical queries their way, ones that weren't part of their pre-prepared spiel, and it was evident that they became rather flustered before wrapping up the conversation. A pity really, as I was quite relishing the little game we were playing!

These folks are really tenacious - I’ve had calls from loads of different numbers, some pretending to be mobile phones like this one. They attempted to reset my email password, claiming they were BT and even sent a PIN to my phone to “prove” it. Since they already had my birthday and other personal info, I figured I might as well go along with it. I keep blocking them whenever they ring from different numbers. Naturally, I’ve changed all my passwords now, but seriously, watch out for these scams.

Just got this weird call today claiming multiple IP addresses were linked to my broadband. Shortly after our chat, I received a text on my phone, and an email arrived, supposedly from "BT", containing a PIN code for accessing a link included in the message. Quite alarming!
