I received a phone call claiming to be about issues with my broadband connection. They stated they were from BT Openreach. This individual, with a noticeable Asian accent, clearly assumed I was an easy target, but the truth is, I'm not even signed up with BT! What a cheeky attempt at scamming!

A bloke rang me, said his name was Max and claimed there was some issue with me broadband. I asked which company he was from and he said Virgin. I then asked him to prove it by giving me my account details or answer some security questions, but he said he didn't have to do that. When I called him out and said it sounded like a scam, he got all annoyed and I just ended the call.

Got a call from 01793936418 today. I answered with a simple hi, the person on the other end replied the same, then I stayed quiet. They said hi once more and then just ended the call. Some folks reckon it's a scam related to broadband, which got me thinking. I only recently switched my internet provider and haven’t really had any annoying calls on my home phone for ages. Now I’m kinda worried if the details I gave to Plusnet might have been leaked or something. Normally, I’m super careful with my landline number but this time I had no choice but to provide it.
