Today, I received a rather alarming call from someone claiming to be from the CSA, insisting that we owed a whopping £4,000. They threatened action unless we coughed up some money right there and then over the phone. They even went through the usual security questions, asking for personal details like the kids’ dates of birth. The line sounded dodgy, so I hung up. Afterward, I rang the CSA to clarify things and found out it was all a scam. I’m left wondering, what steps is the CSA taking to tackle this sort of thing?

It's the same story every time! Just like many of you, we’re baffled as to why these callers, supposedly from the DWP or CSA, can't simply reveal their identities. They aren't required to divulge any private information, just an indication of who they are so we can return their calls. We recognise it’s them trying to reach us, yet they refuse to share any details. It's unbelievably frustrating! We’ve even given them the green light to leave a message, but still, nothing comes through. It makes us question what’s so top secret about their calling. Absolutely infuriating!

I've had these folks ring me twice in the last hour and they've not bothered to leave a message. It's quite baffling! Don't they know that if they really wanted to get in touch, they'd leave a note? We keep getting calls from this number. We’ve had an ongoing CSA case since 2003, and our ex has had money deducted from her wages weekly. However, the CSA has not been passing any of those payments on to me. We refuse to answer the phone as we want all communication in writing; I'm looking to escalate this matter. Nine years worth of arrears amount to a substantial sum. The most disheartening part is that we cut ties with our ex and the children, thinking she would neglect her financial responsibilities. Yet, she’s apparently been managing to pay all along. The CSA really takes the biscuit!

The individual who contacted us introduced themselves as a non-financial caseworker from the CSA. They proceeded to bombard us with a series of standard security questions and, rather shockingly, asked us about the identity of our partner's former partner! We found this utterly astonishing-such a line of questioning felt both inappropriate and rather tactless. We simply refused to engage with that part of the discussion, and he offered an apology for his approach. We made it clear that we prefer all inquiries to be submitted in writing, which he conceded to. After that, the call came to an end, and he did express regret for any distress he may have caused.

There’s no reason for them to withhold their identity under data protection laws, unless they've got something dodgy going on. I’d advise against sharing any details with them-I eventually hung up because I don’t believe this call was genuine. After seeing what Sarah had to say, I'm even more sceptical!

I had a rather unpleasant encounter with a phone call from this number. A rather impolite chap was on the line, requesting to have a chat with my partner and only referring to him by his first name. When I probed further and asked for his identity, he refused to disclose anything, claiming it was confidential. He even had the gall to inquire about when my partner would be available! I firmly informed him that unless he revealed who he was or the nature of the call, I wouldn’t be sharing anything. He kept parroting that he couldn’t provide any details due to data protection, but insisted my partner could inform me later. I reiterated that without knowing who he represented, I wouldn’t be divulging anything. Clearly, if there was nothing to conceal, he would have simply told me. In a nutshell, he was quite discourteous, and I would strongly advise against giving him any personal information-it’s undoubtedly a scam.
