I was pretty shocked to see this labelled a scam from five years back, as just this morning at 9 am, my phone rang with someone saying there was an issue with my computer. I asked them to say that again because I wasn't sure I heard right. The guy then asked if I was the main person who uses the computer. I couldn’t help but chuckle and asked if he was trying to scam me. Then, he ended the call. I found it funny since I don’t even have a computer!

Been getting calls from this number like a bunch of times last week. They said they were from BT’s tech team over at 81 Newgate St, telling me my IP got hacked and tried to coax me into going online so they could “fix” it with a new IP. So I just rang BT’s office at Newgate St myself and they said no way BT calls customers like that. They also reckon the callers aren’t even in the UK - apparently it’s pretty simple for them to fake the location. After that, I reached out to Action Fraud and reported what happened.

I've been getting calls off this number from some scammers claiming to be from BT's security team. It's beyond me why this number isn't blocked or caught already. This fake thing's been happening for ages and it's insane they're still able to get away with it.

On Friday, this number kept ringing me about 30 times. I told them straight up it’s a scam and to stop calling. Then the bloke says, "How do you know it's a scam? Pay me £5000," and just hangs up. This morning, a woman called from the same number, and I called them out again as scammers. She just replied with “Alright, I’ll cut off your internet.” Crazy!

I told him straight up it sounded like a scam from what I’d read online. He got proper annoyed and tried to convince me otherwise. Honestly, it’s a complete con. Today, I got loads of calls from this number claiming that my BT was sending them error alerts and they needed to access my computer. I told them to stop ringing me but it didn't seem to make a difference. I’ve now put in a complaint with the TPS using their online form. If you’re getting calls like this too, I’d honestly recommend reporting them to TPS so they can hopefully put an end to it.
