Had a pretty similar thing happen here. Got a call from a lady with a pretty thick Indian accent saying she worked for BT. She even texted me a PIN code, trying to make it look legit! Said someone else was using my computer or something like that. Her accent was so hard to follow I had no clue what she wanted me to do with the PIN or my laptop. I told her to email me the details and then cut the call. Couldn’t be happier I found this site to check it out before anything dodgy happened!

Got a call from a woman with quite a strong Indian accent who said she was from BT and that my phone line was in trouble. I told her I didn’t believe it and thought it was a con, so I just ended the call. She rang again but I ignored it. Cheers for the heads up! I've got a number from Devon and saw a couple of missed calls from this number recently, both just ringing off to voicemail straight away. Plus, looking back over my call history, I've had loads of calls over the past few weeks from numbers starting with 00120, 0211, and 01241, but the last six digits keep changing. Someone else mentioned those might be coming from China, so just be careful with them. :)

Got a call from a guy claiming he could see everything I do online and that my wifi was hacked. I told him I didn’t fully believe he was from T, and that I’d ring them myself to check. After that, he just went quiet. I asked if he had anything else to say, and there was another awkward pause before he said alright and hung up. Got one of those calls again, you know, with someone speaking in an Indian accent and loads of noise in the background - sounds like they're calling from one of those call centres. I usually keep quiet, don't even greet them. This time, they said hello a few times and then just ended the call. These fake calls began last week, and now we get a couple every day. Even though we’re on the TPS list and our number’s ex-directory, it doesn’t seem to stop them, so it's obvious these are scams or dodgy calls.

Got a dodgy call from this number, looks like a VOIP one so probably not actually from Swindon. Could easily be from somewhere like India or even a German Telefonica number that’s been recycled and handed out to different companies, so honestly it might be coming from anywhere, even in the UK. Reading what others have said, this scammer has been running the same trick with this number since 17/07/18 and hasn’t stopped!

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming he was from BT, said there was some dodgy stuff happening on my internet. He insisted on getting into my computer and wanted to log into my online banking. Stay well clear of these sorts of calls!

Got a call from a woman with an Indian phone number saying my internet was slow for gaming and films, which I don’t even do. She wouldn't tell me my own name but somehow knew bits of my mobile number and fragments of two BT email addresses. She got a PIN from me and warned it might get locked, which it didn’t. Reported this to the BT scam email and then hung up and blocked the caller. Happened here in Aberdeen.

I got a call on my BT landline from a woman speaking with an Indian subcontinent accent who said she was from BT. When I asked her for my BT customer account number to prove she was legit, she quickly rattled off my mobile number (which isn’t even linked to BT). While we were still chatting, she then sent a text with a one-time PIN to my mobile! That definitely felt off, so I just ended the call.

She seemed unsure and insisted I check again. Then she asked me to get on my computer or laptop, saying there were reports someone else was using my broadband and they needed to fix it. I told her I don’t have any computers or laptops, and that if there’s an issue I’d just call BT myself. She didn’t say another word and just hung up.
