Got a fake letter through the door, said it was from the DVLA but it was clearly a scam. Be careful everyone!

Turns out this number belongs to the DVLA in Swansea. They handle V62 forms sent through the post office for getting V5s sorted. Loads of these requests are dodgy, which is probably why they have a whole team just for that. Seriously, don’t bother ringing this number!

I recently found myself on the receiving end of a dodgy letter that was supposedly from the DVLA, urging me to ring this particular number. What a right nuisance!

I’ve had a right dodgy call from someone claiming to be from the DVLA, all about a SORN vehicle. They want me to ring them back. What a cheek!

I got a strange letter with a heading saying 'Immediate Action Required'. To check it out, I rang the DVLA on their 0300 number first and then made sure the 01792 number was legit DVLA. It was, so I gave them a ring. They told me there was a case about a vehicle transfer. Apparently, someone tried to register a transfer which might have been an error or even an attempted theft, but thankfully they sorted it, cancelled the transfer, and closed the case.

This number definitely belongs to the DVLA, but it looks like it’s mainly used for handling applications to change the registered keeper when the V5 isn’t available. I was a bit hesitant to ring because of the reviews here. I’d recommend ringing the main DVLA contact first just to double check if this number is genuine - that’s what I did. Also, the letter I got was printed pretty badly too, but it was definitely real. Turns out someone was trying to claim my car without having the logbook.

The messages you’re getting are just scammers trying to scare you off from calling the number, so they can get away with nicking your car. Honestly, the number is legit, so make sure you give it a ring. Beforehand, you can always double-check by calling the official 0300 DVLA line. The 01792 number lets you put a ticket in their system once you’ve spoken, so you can ring the 0300 again and make sure the person you spoke to is the real deal. Let’s not let these dodgy folks steal from us!

I put my car up on Autotrader and got a message from someone pretending to want to buy it for a taxi, asking for a photo of the back of my V5. I rang the DVLA and they told me to request a new V5 instead. Weirdly now, I've received a letter saying "Immediate action required" about a change of ownership application. The letter has a Swansea phone number on it, but I'm not convinced it's really from the DVLA. Feels a bit dodgy to me.

Got a sketchy letter from them, the paper was rubbish and the words all wrong. Don’t bother calling back - it’s definitely a scam.

Got a letter claiming to be from the DVLA, but the printing was awful and the colours were really faded. It didn’t really seem legit at all. My mum actually phoned the number listed and ended up sharing her details :( Not sure what the scam’s about, maybe just trying to collect personal info.

Got a letter saying to ring that number from DVLA. I thought better of it and dialled the normal 0300 DVLA line first. They told me they never sent anything like that out. Be careful and don’t bother ringing that number - it’s a total scam!

Got a letter from "the DVLA" but it was really poorly printed and the same number was listed three times claiming it was for different departments. Don’t bother calling or picking up if it rings, it’s definitely a scam.
