Got a call from some scammer again, this time with an American voice recording saying there'd been suspicious activity on my Visa card. I was in the middle of something so just ended the call straight away. I never reply to calls like this - no matter what. Even if by some miracle it was a legit call (which I doubt), banks always cover fraudulent transactions anyway, it’s their responsibility. If it was real, a real person would be on the line telling me to ring the bank on a public number, not some robo call. And if they ring me and ask for proof who THEY are, I’m not having it! They call me first, so they should ID themselves, no excuses about “data protection.” These scammers just want to catch people off guard when they’re not paying attention. If you have any doubts at all, just call your bank on the number you know and trust. Never get drawn into talking to these con artists, even if they sound really believable. And don’t bother flagging it to the police, they’d rather deal with easy crimes like speeding tickets than spend time on phone scams - it’s all about quick results for their stats, sadly.
