Got a call from these people claiming I owed a rebate on my water charges. I explained that since my rainwater drains straight into the main sewer and not soakaways, there’s no rebate coming my way. The guy just said maybe they had wrong details, but honestly, I reckon they’re just trying to hook people in. If your rainwater does soak away into the ground, then you might be entitled to a bill discount, but just check with your water provider directly. Just got a call from this number, and they had a Welsh accent too, like me! They said they were from Greenstreak and wanted to offer a refund for an overcharge. I told them I’ve never dealt with them before and wouldn’t be giving any info on the phone - asked them to send something in writing instead. We hung up after that, all polite enough. The caller mentioned something about "eco funding" and said Greenstreak’s been around for three years. Had a look on their website later on, and there’s a fee of just under £300 for their service that claims to save money. Sounds a bit fishy to me. Also, how did they get my number? Got a call about a £100 rebate on my water charges, but the woman didn't say her name or ask if I was the property owner. When I asked her who she was a couple of times, she seemed irritated and claimed she was from Green Street calling for Welsh Water. I don't even live in Wales or use their services. When I told her this, she just said I was overpaying for my wastewater, like rain and sewage. Really unimpressed - she was quite rude and the customer service was dreadful.

Running a website is such a hassle thanks to all the random marketing calls coming through every which way. I recently got this new phone from BT (the BT8500) and set up call guardian and true call on it. Been only a few days but already dealing with unwanted calls has become so much easier, definitely worth the spend, no matter your provider. Prior to this, I used to get loads of dodgy calls - ones starting with 000 or UK-looking numbers that seemed genuine but often had a number missing. Since putting the system on, no annoying calls at all. I just peek at missed calls and block anything suspicious. Real callers usually leave their name anyway. Sorted, as they say! That annoying number is firmly blocked now.

This morning I received a call from a woman called Charmayne claiming to represent Green Streak. She already knew my full name and address, and said I was eligible for a minimum of £100 back from Welsh Water. She gave me their contact number as 08438865512. When I asked which company she was from, she said Green Streak, saying they’re involved in a government scheme aimed at helping older people get better deals. Later, she handed me over to a manager who mentioned that I could qualify for new windows, radiators, and free solar panels, all for a fee of £299.99 to cover an independent survey. I never sent any money. When I said I wanted to look up their business online first, he abruptly ended the call.

A lady called claiming to be from Green Street about my water supply. I was confused and asked what she meant, but she just hung up on me. After that, I contacted Welsh Water to report the incident, and they told me it was a scam. Apparently, 'Green Street' is one of the fake names used. Even though she wanted to speak to me personally, I refused to give my name and kept pressing her to say who she was actually representing, which was when she mentioned Green Street. Welsh Water warned me these scams often target people over 60 - well, I’m 75 and not falling for it!

Got a suspicious phone call that seemed to come from some call centre in Swansea. They called themselves something like GreenStreet or maybe GreanStreak, but their speech was all muffled and hard to make out. I contacted my water company and was warned not to give away any info. Welsh Water, or Dwr Cymru, told me these companies try to charge for info that's actually free if you just ask your own water, gas or electric supplier. So watch out for these calls from places like GreenStreet or GreenStreak - it’s probably a scam.

Haha, this is amusing. Has your missus had a proper look at the reverse side of her water statement? On page 4, it mentions something about possible discounts on the surface water charge if it's not draining into the sewer, or something along those lines. I can't really buy that they just ended the call straight away. Folks, always glance over the backs of your bills - I just managed to claim back about £100 myself after a quick review.

For about two years now, I've been receiving calls from this so-called "company". Every single time, I add their number to the block list on my Truecaller app. If they're genuine and not trying to scam folks, why have they switched their phone number so many times in these two years? It's suspicious, isn't it? What's even stranger is when I mention that my wife is in the legal team at Welsh Water (which is true), the person on the other end immediately ends the call. Seems dodgy to me.

Hey Carol, just so you know, no matter what, there's always a fee involved. To access any funding for improving your home's energy efficiency, you need to get a certificate first, and that normally sets you back about £200-£300 wherever you go. I found that out after looking into it myself.

What annoys me is when they use 'i' instead of 'I' and throw in street talk like 'rung' or 'legit' in their messages - makes the spam look even less professional. Wish they’d keep it a bit more proper.

Oh, and could you maybe add a note about Utilities Cost savers and Residential Redress too? They're both under the same director at Green Streak. Kinda makes you think, right? Definitely not like that catchy 'New York New York' tune, where they repeat the name cause it's that great. Nope, here it's kinda like thrice repeated but not in a good way. Caller claims it's Green Streak behind it all.

This caller from Swansea sure was pushy, and they made a solid argument about needing a landline ‘Phone number’. They were quite crafty, dodging giving out their number but didn’t want to share their landline address either. Totally ignored the TPS register too. Got pretty rude when I questioned them. Sounded like they were from some workers advice line, maybe something about hearing loss at work or similar - caller ID showed Green Streak.

Ignoring TPS here. Seems like they've got loads of glowing reviews but the business has only been around a few weeks. Probably just charging for simple paperwork stuff like PPI claims, accident forms and passport applications. Honestly, better to handle that yourself.

I got some refunds for gas, electric, and a rebate from Welsh Water through these guys. They also sorted out an EPC for me and fitted a new boiler, which I really needed. They do charge a fee, but since I claimed government funding for making my home more energy efficient, they gave that fee back to me. Had a look at some other forums about that phone number and saw lots of good reviews saying how brilliant it is, all posted around late Feb 2015. They rang about doing an EPC and a home energy check. After they did it, I ended up qualifying for help with my water bill - before it was nearly £490 a year, now it’s down to £256! Plus, they sorted me out with cavity wall insulation and a brand new boiler without charging me a penny. Really grateful!

BE CAREFUL. I got a call from someone claiming to be Green Streak... they told me I could get a refund on my water charges. When I asked why Welsh Water hadn't got in touch, they said it’s because they’re short staffed. I said I’d speak to Welsh Water about it, then they just hung up on me. Never share your info on the phone - the number was 01792 917768.

Saw the number with a Swansea area code and answered since I live here, but no one spoke when I picked up. Just one more annoying call that gets through despite being registered with TPS. They keep calling from UK numbers, which is really frustrating.

I’m usually quite wary about doing stuff on the phone (my grandson always tells me not to), but this bloke was really convincing and made me feel comfortable enough to share my details. He mentioned there was a £299 fee and said something about calling from a BT registered landline, which showed up on my caller ID and was "traceable" or something like that. Even though I was a bit unsure, I gave my info because he sounded honest. Turns out I’m glad I did! Just this week I got a £70 cheque from Dwr Cymru and £639 from Swalec. They saved me some decent money and even gave me a certificate that helps me apply for government funding - which they say will cover my admin costs too. I’ll admit, I was quite suspicious at the start and thought it might be a con, but they’ve been brilliant. Whenever I had any problems they were always quick to answer the phone and sort things out. I’d definitely recommend Green Streak Energy.
